EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Grossmont College and the office of Senator Joel Anderson came together for the eighth year in a row to honor the victims of September 11th. The day before the ceremony, volunteers put up 2,977 flags one for each life taken that September morning. San Diego native and 9/11 survivor, Bill Hay, was the keynote speaker for the memorial. Hay was on the 55th floor of the north tower when the first plane hit.Hay is 89-years-old and a Marine veteran with two purple hearts. They consider themselves "western chauvinists" who want to spread "anti-political correctness."The New Yorker reports that the Proud Boys began distancing themselves from the alt-right in 2017, following the attacks of alt-right members against counter-protesters in Charlottesville."They care about the white race. We care about Western values,” McInnes said.But according to the SPLC, McInnes is a self-described "Islamaphobe" known for continuously making racist, sexist and xenophobic remarks to various media outlets.The Proud Boys also embrace political violence against leftists. The group has battled with Black Lives Matter protesters in Oregon throughout the summer. On right-wing message boards like 4chan and on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, members rejoiced and embraced the president's comments.Joe Biggs, who according to NBC News and Vice is a prominent Proud Boys organizer, said as much on the right-wing social network "Parler.""Trump basically said to go f*** them up. This makes me so happy," he wrote. The group also shared several memes that included Trump's comments, and Vice even reports that the group is selling a shirt online that includes the phrase "standing by."Tuesday's debate was held just days after the Proud Boys held a rally in Oregon. During her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Wednesday, Judge Amy Coney Barrett declined to give her legal opinion as to whether a President could pardon himself for crimes he may have committed while in office.Barrett's deferral came during a line of questioning by Senate Judiciary Committee member Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont. (KGTV) - The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating how several pounds of narcotics wound up magnetized to a man’s truck.A Mexican citizen who lives in Tijuana but works in El Cajon noticed a strange object in his fender Thursday morning and called authorities.Deputies found 4 packages containing roughly 5 pounds of narcotics hidden underneath the man’s pickup truck.The man’s next door neighbor informed them that they had seen men tampering with the victim’s truck overnight.“It’s our feeling that someone targeted this car because he could cross the border every day with the SENTRI pass and they were probably waiting to collect the narcotics later today,” said Sgt. Tim Chantler of the Sheriff’s office.Drivers with a SENTRI pass can travel in establishes dedicated commuter lanes to and cross the border faster after applying and being prescreened. Deputies are awaiting test results for the drugs but suspect either meth, heroin, or fentanyl.The driver is not considered a suspect as he called 911, according to authorities. “I would be checking my vehicle every day before I cross the border” said Sgt. (KGTV) -- Dozens of dogs and cats landed in El Cajon today, after a flight from Louisiana to Gillespie Field. In July, rescue partners at Acadiana Animal Aid in Lafayette, LA helped rescue animals following floods in the area. This month, they've teamed up with the Wings of Rescue to help overcrowded shelters.  The 75 to 90 animals will go to The Rescued Dog, Labradors and Friends Rescue, San Diego Humane Society, and the Rancho Coastal Humane Society.  512
