General Electric was blasted on Wednesday by workers, retirees and shareholders bemoaning the downfall of the company they love.At its annual meeting, GE got an earful from employees and investors who pleaded with management to right the ship after a disastrous year."I believe it was arrogance and a series of bad business decisions," former employee Bill Freeda said. They questioned whether the pension fund, whittled by years of low rates and inattention, will be around to support them.Flannery said the pension fund is running a "significant deficit," but he said maintaining its integrity is "a deep priority for us." Just 65% of shares were cast in favor of ratifying KPMG, down from 94% last year. KPMG has been inspecting GE's books for 109 years, leading critics to argue they've become too cozy.Martin Harangozo said he was fired by GE with no severance after raising questions about "bad" accounting."GE transitioned from an honest company to a dishonest company," Harangozo said.Underscoring the challenges facing GE, Moody's lowered its credit outlook on the conglomerate to negative on Wednesday because of the expected costs of a Justice Department investigation into its subprime-mortgages business.Moody's warned it could downgrade GE's credit rating if the company fails to improve cash flow significantly or if revenue keeps shrinking at the beleaguered power division. HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — A woman trying to protect her dog was killed by an alligator who pulled her into a lagoon at a private South Carolina resort Monday, authorities said.Cassandra Cline, 45, of Hilton Head Island, was walking the dog along a residential area of Sea Pines Resort when she was attacked, state and local officials said. The 8-foot (2.5-meter) alligator was later found and killed, said David Lucas, a spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources."She was walking the dog near the lagoon and the alligator came out of the water and tried to get the dog," Lucas said. "The lady tried to rescue the dog and a maintenance worker ran over to help."Both were trying to save the dog, but the alligator dragged the woman into the water, he said.The dog was unharmed."It's common practice when we have an aggressive alligator like that, we put it down, but it will take some take some time to confirm it's the right alligator," said Capt. Robert McCullough of the Department of Natural Resources.Alligator attacks on humans are extremely rare, Lucas said.Since 1976, there have only been about 20 attacks on people in the state, he said. Until 2016, none of those attacks had been fatal. "It's odd because this is the first time we've heard about an aggressive alligator around a human in the five years that we've been living here."Smith said that at times, alligators have been spotted in yards or pools, but Sea Pines quickly removed those animals."They do a good job. HELENA, MT. - About 120 soldiers arrived in Helena after a year-long deployment to the Middle East.The Montana Army National Guard 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion deployed to the Middle East in October 2019 and conducted operations throughout the Middle East like Syria and Iraq. National Guard leadership was one of the first to welcome home their soldiers.“The wind, the weather, they're coming out of Fort Hood, which is much warmer and they're stoked,” says Donald Emerson, Assistant Adjutant General for the Montana National Guard. “They're happy, doesn't matter. They're just glad to be with their families. It's great to see."In total, about 240 soldiers reunited with their families in Montana, dropping them off in airports nearest to home. The Montana National Guard dropped off their soldiers in groups of about 50 to maintain pandemic changes. Then they were led to their families, and they also received a community reunion from people outside the hangar waiting to welcome them home.“I just wanted to welcome these guys home,” says Puanani Wevers, a Helena resident. She stood outside waving an American flag as soldiers were leaving the hangar. “I mean, it's been a year that parents have, you know, not had their children home and loved ones.
