LA MESA (KGTV)- Friday evening could have been one of the last times the community sees the farmers market on La Mesa Boulevard. On Tuesday the La Mesa City Council will vote to determine the future of the farmers market. Scott Strickland is a vendor at the La Mesa Farmers Market and has been for four years. Strickland tells 10News, “it would be about probably 25 percent of my gross revenue.” Strickland does not want the farmers market to leave La Mesa Boulevard. The farmers market has been at this location for one year and Strickland says it’s been the best location for the vendors, “I would say maybe 10 times the money we were making over there.” Friday, 10News tried talking with business owners who oppose the farmers market being on La Mesa Boulevard. They all have brick and mortar locations that they say are suffering on Friday evenings. One restaurant owner showed us empty tables during their happy hour, another shared they had to cut down staffing on Friday nights because they were losing about three thousand dollars. Both sides are prepared to attend the meeting on Tuesday night and share their concerns and financial burdens with city councilmembers. 1184

(KGTV) — Police are searching for a man who disappeared from an independent living facility in la Mesa.La Mesa Police say Attila "Al" Buki left his home in the 7900 block of Culowee Street at about 7 p.m. on Sunday and did not return.Buki was on foot and does not have access to a vehicle, police say. He also has cognitive delays and suffers from dementia.Buki frequents the area near La Mesa Springs Shopping Center, police added.He's described as a Caucasian man, who was last seen wearing a long grey polo shirt, dark grey sweatpants, and Velcro sandals.Anyone with information as to Buki's whereabouts is asked to call La Mesa Police at 619-667-1400. 679

LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Nearly 200 people turned out for a vigil in Lakeside honoring two teenagers killed in a car accident last weekend. Isaac Culkin and Justin Kyte were killed on Saturday, Jan. 11 when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree. Two others in the car suffered moderate injuries, but survived. Those closest to the boys gathered at the scene of the crash for a candlelight vigil, a moment of silence and prayer. The teens' closest friends remembered them as hardworking, funny boys who loved to have fun offroading the desert. CHP says Kyte was behind the wheel when he lost control of the car and hit a tree on Willow Road. Culkin was in the passenger seat. CHP says speed was a factor, but it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. Services for Culkin are scheduled Thursday, January 23rd. Information on Kyte's services have not been made public. LAS VEGAS — For the first time in 20 years, the Food and Drug Administration has approved a new drug for the treatment of the flu.  The antiviral drug, called Xofluza, is a single dose treatment.  It is for patients who are 12 or older.  The drug must be taken within 48 hours of symptoms, according to the F.D.A. "Very exciting that we have another drug on the market," said Dr. Daliah Wachs.Xofluza is said to be as effective as Tamiflu in alleviating symptoms.  "Do I think it's a lifesaver? Potentially yes," said Dr. Wachs.Unlike earlier drugs, Xofluza is expected to work against drug-resistant strains. It will also shorten the length of the flu."The longer you have the flu, the more you are at risk for complications," said Dr. Wachs.Doctors say it is still critically important for everyone to get vaccinated, especially children and the elderly.  900
