SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Superior Court judge gave San Diego County restaurants the green light to serve on-site again, but not all will make use of the opportunity.For Roddy Browning, the pressure to reopen his restaurant is intense.“We lay in bed at 2:30 in the morning, going, 'Okay, what am I going to do? What am I going to do tomorrow? What am I going to do the next day?'” said Browning, who owns Oceanside's Flying Pig Pub and Kitchen.Browning said sales are down 60% and employees have been reduced from 30 to 12. Reopening for outdoor dining under the new court ruling could boost those numbers.“The state's going to appeal it, and what is the point in opening back up again, and then bringing all these people back to work and saying okay guys the ruling changed, now we're going to have to kick you out of the restaurant again,” Browning said. “I don’t want to do that to my employees anymore.”Don't get him wrong. Browning does plan to reopen under the new court order - but he wants to respect the full three weeks intended in this latest shutdown order, set to complete on Dec. 28."This is not about us against them," Browning said. "We said we would give the governor his three weeks, and I'm going to give him his three weeks."But other San Diego restaurants are planning to remain takeout only until health officials advise otherwise.At Spring Valley's Cali-Comfort Barbecue, a gathering place for sports fans, owner Shawn Walchef says he's not offering indoor or outdoor dining.“We believe that the coronavirus is the antithesis of hospitality. Everything we do in our blood is to take care of people,” Walchef said. “Social distancing doesn’t work in our business. We welcome people into our homes.”Walchef cut about half of his staff - a day he calls his toughest as a restaurant owner.But he says Cali Comfort has fully embraced multiple digital ordering systems, helping it to remain profitable amid the pandemic.Still, the recent order impacts many. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Airbnb is warning would-be party-goers this Halloween that weekend parties at San Diego listings are banned and guests could face legal action if they violate the policy.The rental booking platform banned parties at all of its listings in August and capped occupancy at 16 people as a precaution due to the pandemic. Airbnb has also banned one-night reservations over the Halloween weekend across the country."The great majority of guests are respectful of our hosts’ homes and neighbors, and we understand that this initiative will disrupt many one-night reservations that might not have led to parties. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An exonerated marine colonel was denied release from the Camp Pendleton brig. Colonel Dan Wilson's release was denied three months after he was exonerated for sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl. In July, an appellate court overturned his conviction. Since then, his family has been awaiting his release. His wife spoke to 10News over the phone just moments after his release was denied. "I was shocked and I burst into tears. This man has been in for two years and 10 months," said Susan Wilson. "If they cant believe their own court of appeals then there's a problem there."His family maintains the system has been unjust from the beginning. "I just feel as though he’s getting a really bad rap by the USMC after 38 years of service and 11 deployments," said Wilson. "It's astounding to me that they pride themselves on ‘Marines take care of their own’. Well, they haven’t taken care of us whatsoever."Col. Wilson was also convicted of unauthorized leave and conduct unbecoming of an officer. He'll stay behind bars while he awaits a re-sentencing for those charges. 1100

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A simple move across the city could bring San Diegans more help when it comes to finding a job.Monday, the San Diego Workforce Partnership relocated from its longtime office in City Heights to a new headquarters in Kearny Mesa. The partnership expects to save 0,000 in rent this year and million over the next fifteen years."That's more staffing, more services for job seekers, and more outreach to employers," said Peter Callstrom, the Workforce Partnership's CEO. "To save money is the big deal because we want to keep costs low and fund programs."San Diego Unified bought the partnership's old office, getting them out of a long term, expensive lease.
