(KGTV) - The parking lot of venue and nightclub Over the Border in Chula Vista would be sitting empty right now as the business takes a pause during COVID-19, but it’s instead filled with local vendors. In the lot on Main Street and Fourth Avenue, visitors can buy anything from fish tacos and flowers to Mexican food and coffee.Just Coffee opened up about two weeks ago and owner Tyler Detweiler said he knew it was a bold move to start a new business in the middle of a pandemic, but it’s been successful so far.“People come here with the best moods. They’ve been making their own coffee for three months, four months now, and they want to go get a coffee that tastes like real coffee from a real espresso machine,” said Detweiler.He said another draw has been thanks to his business partner, the owner of Keto Dessert Company. James Baum usually delivers his sugar-free desserts to various locations in the Chula Vista area, so the partnership means one central place for locals to find his treats.Baum said his drive to sell keto dessert comes from his personal background.“They just thought I was a slow learner and then I got older and took this super long test of hundreds and hundreds of questions and realized I’m autistic,” said Baum.He said a sugar-free diet can benefit people with autism so he started the company as a way to bring dessert to keto diets. With the new spot, he’s also been able to meet members of the community and show them how successful a person with autism can be.“For me it’s a business, maybe it’s for you something else, but don’t quit. People are going to put you down and I get that all the time but I come right back up, you know. CINCINNATI -- A police officer working an off-duty detail at a grocery store used a stun gun on an 11-year-old girl Monday evening.The officer was working a detail at the Kennard Avenue Kroger when his attention was brought to the girl and two others who were involved in shoplifting, Lt. Steve Saunders said. The officer gave the girl several commands to stop, and then deployed the stun gun.Medics at the scene checked on the girl, and later so did staff at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Saunders said. He said that as far as he knows, the girl doesn't have any health issues as a result of the Taser deployment.Saunders said that a stun gun can be used on anyone between the ages of 7 to 70, according to Cincinnati Police Department procedure.CPD procedures on use of force state, "The TASER may be deployed on a suspect actively resisting arrest when there is probable cause to arrest the suspect, or to defend one’s self or another from active aggression."The procedure also notes that officers should consider the severity of the crime, the level of suspicion with respect to the fleeing suspect, the risk of danger to others and the potential risk of secondary injury to the suspect due to their surroundings before using a stun gun."An individual simply fleeing from an officer, absent additional justification, does not warrant the use of the TASER," CPD procedure states.The girl had a backpack full of items, Saunders said. She was charged with theft and obstruction, and then released to her parents. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Chula Vista Police are searching for a suspect following a deadly stabbing in Chula Vista in mid-July.According to police, the stabbing happened on July 18 around 10:17 p.m. on the 200 block of Rancho Drive.Officers were called to the scene after receiving a report of a stabbing in the area. When police arrived, they found the victim, 23-year-old Ariel Burquez, suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.Police later determined that the victim and suspect, Raymond Lynde, 28, had an argument before Lynde reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Burquez several times.Chula Vista Police are currently trying to locate Lynde, who is on parole for an unrelated offense, police say.“A parole violation warrant has been issued for the murder of Burquez and Lynde should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or CVPD at 619-691-5151. 990

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati police, who were told a car was stolen with an infant still inside, now say that a child was never in danger and that the person who reported the car stolen lied to get a quicker response from police.Just before 10 p.m. Thursday evening, a 2010 Mercury Milan was reported stolen from a BP gas station in the 1300 block of Hopple Street with a 10-month-old infant still inside.Police caught up with two suspects in the car shortly before 11 p.m., and the suspects fled the vehicle about five miles away from where it was reported stolen.Officers did not find a child inside the vehicle, and the suspects evaded capture, police said.Cincinnati police said the person who reported the car stolen changed his story about 45 minutes into their investigation, saying the infant was not in the car when it was stolen."He stated that there's some money in the car, and that's why he told us there was a 10-month-old in the car, because he knew it would be a top priority for us if this was the case," Cincinnati Police Capt. (KGTV) - A Chula Vista school rallied around one of its own students faced with tragedy Thursday night.Camarena Elementary hosted a fundraiser for the family of Aura Mancilla, a mother who was murdered earlier this month.“She was here [at Camarena] almost every day trying to help out her daughter and our community,” said her friend and PTA President Karina Jones. Chula Vista Police said David Bell shot Aura Mancilla and her aunt, Patricia Garcia, in Mancilla’s home.  Thankfully, Mancilla’s daughter, Iyali, wasn’t home.  Bell later took his own life.The Camarena community organized a dinner fundraiser Thursday night where local vendors brought their food trucks and tents and donated 20% of the proceeds to the family. “It’s something that you want to take care of that child to make sure that she’s still loved and that we’re here for her,” said Jones.Chula Vista Police said they still don’t have a motive for the two killings. 989
