BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's industrial output is expected to grow by about 16 percent year on year this month and in December and the full year industrial output growth could reach around 10.5 percent, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong said here Saturday.     At the 3-day International CEO Roundtable conference, Li said the industrial output growth would guarantee the manufacturing-based Chinese economy should achieve its full-year growth target of 8 percent.     China set the about 8-percent growth target in March this year. The government believes 8-percent GDP growth is essential to generate enough jobs.     According to the minister, China's industrial economy stopped falling and began to stabilize and recover in March this year. In October, China's industrial output rose 16.1 percent from a year earlier, the fastest pace since March 2008 and the sixth consecutive month with an acceleration of year-on-year growth.     Li said the industrial output in October had climbed to the level in June last year, which indicated a V-shaped curve of the recovery of the industrial production activities.     Other figures, such as rising company profit, surging power consumption, and increasing export orders, also pointed to the notable recovery of China's industrial production, he said.     Li also cautioned that the recovery base of China's industrial production was not solid and some industries and companies were still faced with production and operation difficulties.     He said China should continue its efforts to restructure its economy and change growth pattern by promoting innovation and technological upgrading, conserving energy and cutting emissions, and integrating information technologies with industrial development.     According to the minister, the industrial production accounted for 43 percent of China's total GDP in 2008 and contributed 42.8 percent to the GDP growth last year.     Thanks to the global financial crisis, China's economy cooled to its slowest pace in seven years in 2008 and expanded 9 percent from a year earlier to reach 30.07 trillion yuan (4.4 trillion U.S. dollars).

GENEVA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- China will maintain the stability of its Renminbi (RMB) exchange rate all along, which does good for the world economic recovery, Commerce Minister Chen Deming said on Monday.     China's exchange rate reform has continued smoothly, and the value of RMB has risen by some 20 percent against the U.S. dollar since 2005, Chen told reporters in Geneva, where he is attending a ministerial conference of the World Trade Organization.     Despite the impact of the global financial crisis and all kinds of other difficulties, the Chinese government has actively tried to boost domestic consumption and stimulate imports, Chen said. BEIJING, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso exchanged views on climate change and China-EU cooperation on Monday during a telephone conversation.     The upcoming UN climate change conference in Copenhagen should aim to achieve positive results in the full, effective and sustained implementation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Kyoto Protocol, Wen said.     "Emphasis should be put on making clear and detailed arrangements for mitigation, adaptation, technology transfer and financing," he added.     "The key to success at the conference is to uphold the UNFCCC, the Kyoto Protocol, the principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities' and the authorization of the Bali Road Map," he said.     President Hu Jintao had made clear China's position and specific measures at the UN climate change summit in September, he said.     The premier specified six aspects China will give priority to in its next steps. That included integrating actions on climate change into its economic and social development plan, implementing and improving the National Climate Change Program, promoting the green economy, and reinforcing the comprehensive capability in coping with climate change.     Work also needs to be done in improving legislation on dealing with climate change and boosting international exchanges and cooperation, Wen said.     China highly values its relations with the European Union and both sides should further deepen the strategic mutual trust and strengthen all-round cooperation under new conditions, Wen said.     China is ready to work with the EU to push for a success of the Copenhagen conference and promote the comprehensive strategic partnership with the EU, he added.     In the telephone conversation, Barroso briefed Wen on the EU's position and proposals on climate change.     Barroso said the EU appreciates China's efforts in coping with climate change and its achievements in energy saving and emission reduction.     The EU hopes to enhance coordination and cooperation with China to make sure the Copenhagen conference produces positive outcomes, and expects to make joint efforts with China to push bilateral cooperation to a new level, Barroso said.

BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping Thursday urged improving the quality of Party officials at grassroots level.     Xi, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks here while meeting with Wang Boxiang, former secretary of a county committee of the CPC, whom Xi described as the model of such officials in the new period.     Wang, born in 1943, has been a local official for more than 30 years and won praises for keeping a just and thrifty working style.     From 1986 to 1991, he was Secretary of the Shouguang County Committee of the CPC in east China's Shandong Province.
