A judge ordered President Donald Trump to pay million to a collection of nonprofit organizations as part of a settlement with the New York state attorney general's office to resolve a civil lawsuit that alleged "persistent" violations of charities law that included unlawful coordination with the 2016 Trump presidential campaign, according to a court filing Thursday.Filed in June 2018, the lawsuit alleged that the President and his three eldest children -- Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric -- violated federal and state campaign finance laws and abused the Donald J. Trump Foundation's tax-exempt status. This week people across the country are enjoying time with family and celebrating the day the Native Americans and pilgrims sat down for a meal together. But the history of Thanksgiving, and the relationship between the two groups, is not that simple.“There was a lot of cultural misunderstanding, and there was some just flat out theft, and murder, and those things happened too,” said Tressa Brown with the Kentucky Heritage Council.Brown says what's taught in schools often romanticizes the first Thanksgiving and fails to acknowledge the wrongdoings against American Indians.“The stories that we perpetuate tend to make at least the dominant culture feel good, not so much for the other cultures. This is not a day of Thanksgiving for native people,” said Brown.She says Native Americans traditionally give thanks every day, rather than one set day each year. A part of Brown’s work includes traveling to schools to educate students and teachers about appropriate ways to teach and celebrate the holiday.“I think it's really important that kids be taught respect for those cultures, respect for what is sacred among other people. And not to denigrate it by dressing up and, you know, hitting your hand over your mouth to make noise and speaking in broken English,” said Brown. Brown says many don't realize that Native Americans are modernized, and they live just like everyone else.“The American Indian cultures, multiple, are vibrant, alive, thriving,” said Brown. Right here in Kentucky there is a rich Native American history. Days later, a state Supreme Court judge granted his parents' petition to save their son's sperm in order to continue his legacy and their family lineage.Another skier found 21-year-old Peter Zhu unresponsive on a ski slope on the academy grounds in upstate New York on February 23, according to a school news release. He was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where doctors determined that Zhu's spinal cord was fractured, and he was declared medically brain-dead three days later, court documents say.Zhu's parents, Yongmin and Monica Zhu of Concord, California, filed a petition Friday morning, pleading with the court to allow the hospital to proceed with a sperm retrieval procedure on their son's body.He always wanted to live on a ranch and raise a family and have horses, his parents say in in their petition.More than his wishes to become a father, Peter is the only male child to continue the Zhu family lineage.
