A 17-year-old is recovering in the hospital after being shot in the head by a rubber bullet. Caprice Wade said her son Lazerick Wade, 17, went several blocks away from their home in Milwaukee to check in on a gathering of people outside a home. Minutes later, she had to rush him to a nearby hospital.“My heart sunk to the bottom of my feet,” Caprice Wade said. “I didn’t know what to do.”Cell phone video shows Lazerick in a blue hoodie moments before the shot was fired just feet away from officers. Caprice said her son was asked to move out of the street before the shot was fired.“When he turned around to look at me, his head was split wide open,” she recalled after picking up her son.A spokesperson with Milwaukee Police did confirm rubber bullets were used as part of non-lethal munitions to disperse crowds at the location.A police spokesperson said the department is investigating Caprice’s claims but are still investigating the alleged incident.“He’s in intensive care. We’re just waiting to see what else from there,” Caprice Wade said.Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has gone on-record decrying certain use-of-force."I stressed the need to bring the temperature down. A 4-year-old girl was left alone inside a minivan overnight in a Milwaukee tow lot, Public Works Commissioner nominee Jeff Polenske said Tuesday at a news conference. Late Monday night, an impaired female driver was pulled over and arrested for an OWI when the vehicle was towed. Officers removed a 10-month-old child from the vehicle, but neglected to remove a 4-year-old girl from the backseat.Polenske said it wasn't until a tow lot employee heard the young girl crying that the girl was removed. Officials towed the car to the lot on around 12:30 a.m. The child was not discovered until around 8:30 a.m. Upon discovery, the child was checked by fire officials for immediate harm and later transported to the hospital for further review. Data from local meteorologists shows temperatures dipped as low as 19 degrees Monday night while the child was in the car.Milwaukee Public Works is reviewing more on the situation.   976

(KGTV) - The group leading the campaign to transform the San Diego County Credit Union Stadium site into a west campus for San Diego State University has major concerns over the question that will be posed to voters on the November ballot. Friends of SDSU is dismayed to the point that the issue could wind up in court. "Our position is we've correctly portrayed the initiative measure in our corrected version. If that isn't acceptable for whatever reason, we'll have to determine whatever remedies are available," Attorney Ken Lounsbery, speaking on behalf of the campaign, said to the City Council on Monday. RELATED: San Diego State's Mission Valley stadium plan includes NFL possibilitySDSU West is competing with SoccerCity, a private development, over the future of the 166-acre site. Both are promising a smaller stadium with a river park. The City Attorney's office, which is suing to get both thrown off the ballot, developed the language for both initiatives to go before voters. The SDSU West question, of 75 words, doesn't say the university would buy the land for fair market value.
