SPRING VALLEY, Callif. (KGTV) — New video shows a man using a massive brick to break into a Spring Valley dessert shop and steal the cash register. A little after midnight on Feb. 28, the video shows a man breaking into Snoice dessert shop in Spring Valley, walking to the bakery in the back and stealing the register, which had 0 inside. Jayrell Ringpis, the store owner, said he felt violated when he saw the video. "It's just disheartening because we're not alone," he said.The thief hit at least two other businesses in the same strip mall as Snoice, which is on Paradise Valley Road. On Friday, a door was missing from a Mexican restaurant halfway down, and a donut shop had a glass door boarded up. The worker at the donut shop says this is not the first time someone has broken in through the glass.Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call around 4 a.m. Thursday but did not find the suspect. The brick left behind did have some blood on it, but the Sheriff's department didn't immediately respond to further questions. Some of San Diego's fastest growing companies will add more than 600 new jobs over the next five years.The hiring, however, is starting now. California awarded 15 San Diego companies tax credits in exchange for investing locally and adding jobs. Overall, the jobs will pay an average salary of about ,000.The state launched what's called the California Competes tax credit in 2013 to combat lower cost states, like Texas, from recruiting companies out of California."We need people, we need equipment, we need to improve our facilities, and that's really helping us do that," said Dave Twining, chief operating officer of Planck Aerosystems, which got a 0,000 credit. The company just expanded into a Midway warehouse large enough for a net for drone testing. In exchange for the credit, Planck is committing to add 23 jobs at an average salary of ,000. Twining said the company needs workers that run the gamut, from office administrators to engineers. Companies are also required to invest or expand in California. BOFI, for Bank of the Internet, got a million credit for its commitment to expand and add 160 jobs in San Diego over the next five years. The jobs will pay an average salary also ,000. But the credits are not just for finance and tech companies. Take Bold Brew Coffee, which recent SDSU grads Jack Doheny and Jake Solomon launched last year. The state is granting them a ,000 tax credit in exchange for expanding locally, and hiring seven workers at an average salary of ,000 a year. "It's Jack and I running the show, and that's why we desperately need some employees to help us out," Solomon said. SPRING VALLEY (KGTV): People who live in the East County say they're fed up with the growing homeless problem around Spring Valley County Park.They say it's gotten worse over the last few months, and many parents are now afraid to bring their children there."They yell and scream, and they’re fighting each other," says Gustavo Galvez. His son, Gustavo, Jr. goes to the preschool at the park. "It’s concerning to have your kids listen to that kind of stuff."The county admits the problem has gotten worse. In a statement to 10News, they outlined steps the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Health and Human Services is taking to solve it.Those include:- Coordinating outreach events to give the homeless assistance and resources.- Increasing lighting around the park, especially near the restrooms.- Increased cleaning of common areas around the parkThe county also says that the Sheriff's Department has stepped up their patrols in the area. There is a Sheriff's Substation across the street, which helps keep and eye on the park.Some parents, though, say it's not enough."I feel bad. I know they need to be somewhere. But I don't think they should be where children are," says Lisa Brown, who brings a group of kids from her daycare to the park. "It's a playground. Kids go here."Concerned parents plan to bring their complaints to the Spring Valley Planning Group board meeting Wednesday night.
