China built its first pilot free trade zone (FTZ) in Shanghai in 2013 as a test bed for pushing forward reforms and opening the economy wider. In the first eight months this year, a total of 1,959 foreign-funded enterprises opened in the FTZ, accounting for nearly half of the total registered in Shanghai Municipality.
UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping announced here Saturday a major initiative to help developing countries reduce poverty.
Xi's thoughts were publicized on Wednesday.
The president also asked for ensuring "all-round" development to make the groundwork of development more solid, stressing the need to uphold equity and social justice, and to achieve harmonious coexistence between man and society and between man and nature.
"China will shoulder its share of responsibility and continue to play its part in this common endeavor," said Xi, but urging developed countries to fulfill their historical responsibility, honor their emission reduction commitments and help developing countries mitigate and adapt to climate change.
