The boy who made headlines when he was photographed hugging an officer during a 2014 protest against police brutality is missing after his family's SUV plunged 100 feet off a coastal highway in California, officials said Wednesday. The bodies of Jennifer and Sarah Hart, of Washington, and three of their six children, were found Monday in and around the vehicle, which landed on its roof in the Pacific Ocean, Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said. Their three other children, including 15-year-old Devonte, are missing. 531

The CDC is considering changing its quarantine guidelines for those who have been in close contact with someone who is infected with the coronavirus.Currently, those who have been in close contact with someone infected with the virus would be advised to quarantine for 14 days. Possible new guidance would shorten the quarantine period to 10 days. At the end of the 10-day period, a test would be need to end quarantine. In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Adm. Brett Giroir, the assistant secretary for health at Health and Human Services, explains why a 10-day quarantine might be more effective at getting more compliance with the guidance."People are much more likely to listen to a 10-day quarantine than they are a 14-day quarantine,” Giroir said. “If we can shorten it safely with most risk because we have a quarantine plus a test, we have a lot of tests available now, that might improve our public health responses.”Giroir stressed that final guidelines have not been approved, and the current guidance still calls for a 14-day quarantine.“It's not an announcement that is happening but we are reviewing it and the CDC team is modeling it and looking at data every day,” Giroir said.“And it may change or it may not. Just depends on where the data and the evidence wind up." According to the CDC, a person can become infected with the virus up to 14 days following exposure. But researchers say most illnesses begin five to seven days after COVID-19 exposure.A close contact is considered someone who is within 6 feet of someone with the virus for a period of 15 minutes or more over the course of a day. 1626

The family of a Rochester, New York man killed during an encounter with police earlier this year, says officers' use of force led to his death as he suffered a mental health crisis.Following the release of the arrest video by Prude's family on Wednesday, protesters called for the city council to pass legislation that would forbid police officers from responding to mental health crises. On March 23, police encountered Daniel Prude in a Rochester street, naked, bleeding and unarmed. According to ABC News, he had been brought to the hospital earlier that evening after experiencing suicidal thoughts and had been subsequently released.Prude initially complied, and officers placed him in handcuffs. With the coronavirus pandemic in its infancy, officers then chose to place a spit hood over Prude's head. The hood appears to agitate Prude, and he asked officers to remove it.Moments later, Prude attempted to stand up, and officers wrestled him back to the ground.Video shows officers pressing Prude's face into the pavement for two minutes. It was then that police realized that Prude had stopped responding. Officers administered CPR, and he was rushed to the hospital. On March 30, Prude died when he was taken off life support."I tell this particular officer that comes to my door (prior to the incident), don't you kill my damn brother," Prude's brother Joe said on Wednesday. "Not even 15 minutes later, he comes back and tells me my brother is dead. You put a bag over his head — what did you put a bag over his head for?"An autopsy from the Monroe County Medical Examiner found that Prude died from complications of asphyxia from physical restraint. He also may have had PCP in his system. The Rochester Police Chief said he ordered criminal and internal investigations following the incident. The case was sent to the New York Attorney General's office, as required by state law when investigating in-custody deaths.None of the officers involved in the incident have been suspended. Protesters in Rochester Wednesday night called for the removal of the officers from the department."A naked and defenseless man lynched and we need to think about that in this moment," activist Stanley Martin said. "We have no excuse. This happened under the watch of the city." 2276

The Department of Justice issued a warning to the public not to fall for cards bearing the DOJ logo claiming exemption from state mask requirements amid the spread of COVID-19.“Inaccurate flyers or other postings have been circulating on the web and via social media channels regarding the use of face masks and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” the Department of Justice said. “Many of these notices included use of the Department of Justice seal and ADA phone number.”According to the Department of Justice, the ADA does not provide a blanket exemption to people with disabilities from complying with legitimate safety requirements necessary for safe operations.According to CDC guidance, only children under age 2, or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance are encouraged not to wear face coverings. This reminds me of when my friend and I got fake IDs in Times Square that just said “ID Card” and looked like someone had made them with a home laminator. pic.twitter.com/2a393OFkIs— The Hoarse Whisperer (@HoarseWisperer) June 25, 2020 1168

The final countdown is on and everything has been meticulously planned down to the final detail. But there is one wild card that even the Queen herself cannot control: What will the weather be for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's big day on Saturday, May 19?Since we are still 10 days out, it's still too early to make a definitive call on rain or give detailed predictions about the timing of any potential showers -- but we can look at the long-range weather models and get an idea of what the general weather pattern will be while the world's eyes are on England.May's weather is off to a perfect start, with clear skies and well-above average temperatures in London nearing 30? C (86? F), which has locals feeling the royal wedding fever. The average high temperature for May in London is 18? C (64? F), so this past week has felt downright summer-like.A change in the weather threatens to dampen spirits, however, with cooler temperatures and several bouts of rain moving through in the next week as we lead up to wedding weekend.Temperatures will plummet to below average with significantly more clouds and some rain in the forecast as a couple of low pressure systems move through the British Isles next week.Fortunately, the weekend looks like it could see a return of the milder air and potentially clearer skies as high pressure builds over the North Sea.According to the UK Met Office, the nation's weather forecasting service, "there is low confidence in the forecast for the rest of next week and the following weekend, but there are some signals that it may turn drier, more settled and somewhat warmer with light winds."The forecast for the day can, and likely will, change over the next week and a half. Weather forecasts more than a week out have considerably less skill than short-term forecasts of just a couple of days.Especially when dealing with a region that has rapidly changing weather conditions like Great Britain.A dry wedding day would fit in line with other recent royal nuptials, including those of Prince William and Catherine Middleton in April of 2011 and Prince Charles and Diana's in July, 1981, both of which avoided the damp and rainy conditions many associate with British weather. 2226
