A massive community effort ensued, as neighbors spent endless hours searching for the boy.Wilson's mother, Crystal, initially contacted the Buckeye Police Department's non-emergency line in the early morning hours of July 18, saying her son had slipped out of their home.Similar incidents involving Jesse and his siblings were uncovered, including an incident in April 2016, when Buckeye police responded to the family's neighborhood after Jesse was found in a neighbor's yard.ABC15 also discovered 2011 reports from Avondale police, who were called to Crystal Wilson's home after receiving reports that her five children were being abused and underfed. Responding officers checked the children for injuries and determined they were fed and there was no evidence of abuse. Neighbors who lived near the Wilson's in Avondale told ABC15 the children were often seen knocking on doors asking for food.Police said Tuesday that their investigation into Jesse's death is continuing. I got to keep everyone safe,” said Brown.And his artwork, which he gives to his coworkers.“Our office is decorated with all of Tayvon’s artwork, we have Tayvon’s artwork at the big kitchen, where we bake everything and we all get to take Tayvon’s art home and make our spaces more beautiful,” said Gallagher.He connects his fellow employees at Atwater’s. Gallagher says he’s the secret ingredient.“I don’t know what to compare it to except like the gluten of the staff that Tayvon is. He brings everyone together,” Gallagher said.Brown is just one person out of the 19% of Americans who have a disability who were employed in 2019, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.For comparison, 66% of people without disabilities held jobs last year.People with disabilities are also more than twice as likely to work only part-time.It’s not easy for those with disabilities to find work, no matter how much they may want to.It will take more businesses, like Atwater’s, having an open mind about hiring people like Brown.“We’ve worked with lots of folks with intellectual differences with physical differences, with different cultural backgrounds, different languages spoken, I do feel proud, I also feel like of course and maybe some impatience that this is a special case and it’s not a wider practice,” said Gallagher.While they can’t solve the issue of underemployment of people with intellectual disabilities, everyone at Atwater’s can enjoy their time with Brown, and every time he makes them smile.“It makes me feel like that I have a friend at work that can be nice to me, someone who can help me through my tough days,” said Johnson.“Tayvon can make any of bad days turnaround. BALTIMORE, Md. - "I never thought that I would be on Facebook again, and going on Facebook is literally what changed my life."It was a lifesaving change for Rachel Rockwell.Her old classmate Kate Corzine would be her agent of change.“After having this condition for 12 years and knowing that I eventually needed to look for a liver donor, the time had come.”Rachel opened up on Facebook about her autoimmune disease, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. It was attacking her liver. She needed a transplant to survive.She and Kate hadn't spoken in about 15 years.Kate, a nurse, and mother of five did her research on live liver transplants answered Rachel's call for help."I approached my husband and said an old classmate of mine Rachel needs help and I think that this is something that we can do. I'd like to offer my help and after hearing a bit more he said, go for it."There was an outpouring of support for Rachel on social media. More than 50 people responded, but Kate ended up being the perfect match.They met for lunch two weeks prior to their Sept. 29 surgery date in the middle of a pandemic."It has been a challenging year for a lot of people and to have this hope that is shared and the joy that comes from it, it's pretty amazing."There's a lot of darkness and for people to see an opportunity for light and then see that happen so abundantly with Kate is very moving."While Rachel's grateful for Kate, both women are grateful for the medical team at Johns Hopkins that made it happen.Their surgeon, Dr. Andrew Cameron says the amazing story of Kate's willingness to share more than half of her liver with a former classmate.... is a testament to the importance of transplants.Their road to recovery is smooth so far.....Kate's liver is regenerating....and Rachel is on the mend with her PSC thanks to her new organ.“I'm on a lot of medication to keep the liver happy, Kate's liver happy, but a year from now it'll probably seem like my liver."While the two shared sisterhood at Bryn Mawr graduating from the girls' school in 1997.
