HOUSTON, Texas -- Police engaged a driver in a prolonged slow-motion chase along Houston highways Thursday morning.According to KTRK, the chase started after a 911 call to a disturbance. The suspect reportedly pistol whipped a woman and fled when police arrived.Police believed the suspect might have been armed during the pursuit.The chase started out as a high-speed chase. But when the SUV suffered a flat tire, the driver briefly stopped on the highway before proceeding at very slow speeds.Several miles later, the driver again pulled over and the SUV was surrounded by authorities.  Yet somehow the SUV was able to drive away again.After another brief chase, a patrol car performed a PIT maneuver to stop the SUV for good.Officers surrounded the vehicle and pulled the driver out.The driver was removed from the scene on a stretcher. 872

(KGTV) - An Imperial Beach man said he was sucker punched during a peaceful protest in Imperial Beach on Sunday.Marcus Boyd was one of the people at the rally, which started at Veteran's Park. The attack happened when the group got to the beach, Boyd said."We were shouted at by three or four individuals, telling us to go home," Boyd said. "They decided to start throwing eggs at us. I crossed the street just to get a good image of the perpetrators."That's when Boyd said he was hit from behind. He still has a sore neck and headache. He said emotionally, it has been hard to watch the video. "He really tried to hurt me," Boyd said. Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina tweeted that he's called on the San Diego Sheriff's Department to "investigate the violent assault on peaceful protestors" that occurred at the Imperial Beach Pier Plaza on Sunday afternoon. Mayor Pro Tem Paloma Aguirre added that she does not want residents to feel unsafe "for exercising their First Amendment rights."According to a Sheriff's spokesman, the incident occurred at about 3 p.m. on Sunday. House and Senate negotiators have struck a deal over?long-stalled legislation?to revamp the way sexual harassment complaints are made and handled on Capitol Hill, multiple congressional sources close to the process told CNN on Wednesday, likely assuring the bill's final passage this year.The bill will reconcile the House- and Senate-passed versions into one bill that overhauls the Congressional Accountability Act, which set up and oversees how sexual harassment claims are handled and -- for the first time -- will hold lawmakers liable for paying harassment settlements from their own pockets, rather than using US taxpayer money as had been done in the past.The breakthrough comes more than a year since the #metoo wave hit Capitol Hill and just in the nick of time. Had Congress been unable to reach agreement before the end of the year, each chamber's legislation that passed earlier in the year would have expired.The House passed its version in February.
