SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The median price of a home in San Diego County rose by 8 percent in July, compared with the same month a year earlier, a real estate information service announced Thursday.According to CoreLogic, the median price of a San Diego County home was 9,750 last month, up from 7,000 in July 2017. A total of 3,607 homes were sold in the county, down 3.5 percent from 3,739 during the same month the previous year.A total of 21,277 new and resale houses and condos changed hands in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties last month, according to CoreLogic. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol is today investigating a fatal freeway crash in San Diego, authorities said.As of 3:35 a.m., multiple CHP units were still at the scene of the traffic collision in San Diego that shut down the five right lanes of the westbound Mission Valley (8) Freeway east of Mission Gorge Road and Fairmount Ave, according to a CHP dispatcher.At least one person has died, she said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County has opened cool zones as the county faces scorching temperatures amid the coronavirus pandemic. A cool zone will open at noon today in the former Sears building at Chula Vista Center, providing socially distant and disinfected spaces to beat the heat.With a heat wave expected this weekend and into next week and the city's recreation centers and libraries closed to the public due to the pandemic, the city issued a statement saying the opening of a cool zone was paramount.The Chula Vista cool zone will be open when temperatures exceed 85 degrees, and will be operated by city recreation staff.
