SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge is considering placement locations for a sexually violent predator convicted of sexual offenses against children between the ages of 4 and 9.Judge Howard Shore issued a written decision Tuesday that a proposed address on the 15000 block of Adams Drive in Pauma Valley was not suitable for the placement of Joseph Bocklett.A news release from the District Attorney said Judge Shore is considering other potential housing options.Bocklett was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19-year period involving children between the ages of 4 and 9.He was sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term before being committed to Coalinga State Hospital for treatment.Last year, Bocklett petitioned for the Conditional Release Program for sex offenders. He was granted conditional release to a supervised home. "I can certainly empathize with the feeling that people do not want someone like Mr. Bocklett in their community,'' Shore said during last Friday's hearing. ``I would be shocked if anyone wrote a letter saying, `We can't wait to have him living in our community.' SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new program at the University of San Diego will give students a crash course in cybersecurity, one of the fastest-growing fields in the region.USD partnered with online education company Fullstack to offer the 26-week course. They say people who take it will be ready to apply for the thousands of available jobs that companies in San Diego are having a hard time filling."When they're done, they could go into software engineering, software development, web development, cybersecurity," says Andy Drotos, USD's Director of Professional and Public Programs. "There's a long list of jobs available in all of those areas."According to a 2019 study by the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence, there are more than 150 cybersecurity firms across San Diego. They create 8,450 jobs -- that's an 11% jump from 2016. Some estimate there are around 4,000 open positions in the cybersecurity field."There's a demand for staff who have previous work experience and can apply that to new roles," says Andy Haas, a Chief Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton. He says his company is always looking for people to fill cybersecurity roles."It really is a growing need across companies, across industries here in the region," says Haas.The boot camp-style course at USD has classes that are taken online, twice a week. There's also a Saturday class that meets both in-person and online. Drotos says it's perfect for people looking to make a career change."If you have an affinity for technology, or you have an interest, you don't need a degree," he says. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A random act of kindness at a Rancho Bernardo grocery store has a grateful grandma paying it forward. Kathy Yezarski went to the Albertsons at Rancho Bernardo and Poway Roads Friday night to buy milk and cereal for her grandchildren, who were staying at her home. She was about to pay for her groceries when she noticed a problem. “When I got to the checkout I was really embarrassed to see that I didn’t have my wallet,” Yezarski said. Yezarski thought she’d have to leave the items behind and return home when “a very kind young man” noticed her dilemma. “The man behind me very quickly said ‘I’ve got this,’” Yezarski said. Yezarski was mortified she had forgotten her wallet. “It was really touching to me…heartwarming that he would do that for someone.” Yezarski was so moved, she posted about the kind act on the Nextdoor app for her neighborhood. She was hoping the young man would see the post but she wasn’t expecting the reaction she received. “I didn’t realize when I posted until after I posted that two previous posts had been about recent shootings, and I think people were just reeling from that, feeling so upset and I think they needed to hear something positive. A lot of people said that: thank you for restoring my faith in humanity,” Yezarski said. She was inspired to perform a kind act of her own. “Beyond just thanking him, I thought - I’ve got to pay this forward. I went on the website for the San Diego Food Bank and donated. I thought, wow, I can’t just let this stop here, I can’t. I need to do that, he triggered this desire in me to pay this forward.” Yezarski hopes the young man realizes the power of his generosity. “I would want to tell him ‘you’re awesome’, you are just an amazing person and just thank you because you started something that really touched a lot of people,” she said. 1848

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego contractor who admitted to stealing people’s money and not doing the work was sentenced Wednesday. Stephen Hage entered the courtroom as a free man, but left in shackles. Team 10 investigator Adam Racusin exposed the San Diego contractor back in 2018. Late last year, Hage pleaded guilty to three counts of grand theft and two counts of theft from an elder. Wednesday, he was sentenced to one year in custody on the charges. RELATED: Contractor accused of taking money and not finishing the jobWhile he was waiting for sentencing on the charges, a San Diegan now living in Arizona says that hasn’t stopped Hage from working. The man says Hage took his money and didn’t finish the job. The accusations brought up in court today. Prosecutors say total restitution to Hage’s 22 San Diego victims is about ,000. Wednesday, he brought in a check that’s not even close. “To come to court with ,700 after numerous months really isn’t sufficient.”The defense arguing he’s doing the best he can. “He’s not taking money from people and living this life of luxury, he’s barley getting by.
