MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico's foreign affairs ministry has formally asked the United States government to conduct a thorough investigation into a Jan. 1 incident in which U.S. agents fired tear gas into Mexico to stop crossing migrants.In a statement Thursday, the ministry said through its embassy that it lamented any violent acts along its border. MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif.(KGTV) - Mammoth Mountain closed Saturday after three people were partially buried in an apparent avalanche.The popular snow resort issued the closure on Twitter, saying the avalanche struck just after 10 a.m. while Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol was performing avalanche hazard mitigation, which could involve structural measures or artificial triggering of high-risk areas."All rescue measures are in place and the mountain is currently closed," officials tweeted.The three individuals partially buried were able to free themselves. A person spotted the sheep, burdened with the extra large fleece, and reported it to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or RSPCA.The RSPCA estimates the sheep, who they named Ewenice, had not been trimmed in about four years.Ewenice was checked over, given a haircut, and sent to a new home. About 44 pounds of wool was sheared off.“Carrying such a large fleece for an extended period of time would have had dire impact on this ewe’s welfare and quality of life.
