LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles prosecutors have charged rapper Tory Lanez with shooting Megan Thee Stallion during an argument earlier this year. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is accused of shooting at Megan Thee Stallion's feet and hitting her after she left a sport utility vehicle during their fight in the Hollywood Hills on July 12. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy was suspended following allegations that he had sex on the Universal Studios lot and the encounter was captured by the deputy's open microphone.It was unclear when the incident occurred."The deputy was immediately relieved of duty and an administrative investigation has been opened," according to a statement released by the department. "The deputy's peace officer's powers have been suspended and the proper administrative action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation."Audio of the incident was posted on TMZ's website on Tuesday. LOS ANGELES (CNS) -- With coronavirus cases on the rise, municipalities in the Los Angeles area Thursday began to crack down on residents who flout the statewide requirement that they wear masks while in public.In West Hollywood, sheriff's Capt. Edward Ramirez issued a statement saying deputies have been working to educate violators about the requirement, but people who refuse could now face fines."Beginning this month, we will continue to utilize education and persuasion and hand out face masks, however, we will begin issuing city of West Hollywood Municipal Code citations to people who refuse to follow the face mask order while in public," he said."The citation, which is administrative and not criminal, is 0 plus a fee of for a total of 0 for the first offense," he said. "Our very least option is to conduct enforcement by issuing a citation, but the risk to community health is too great. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Workers at Ralphs, Albertsons and Vons/Pavilions throughout Southern California and as far north as Santa Maria ``overwhelmingly'' ratified a new contract with the grocery chains, averting a potentially costly and disruptive strike, union officials announced Thursday. Officials with the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 770, the Los Angeles-area union representing grocery workers, issued a statement saying the deal ``represents the most significant increases in wages and benefits in over 30 years.'' ``This agreement is a first step towards security good, career jobs in the changing grocery industry,'' Kathy Finn, secretary-treasurer of UFCW 770, said in a statement. ``As important as the hundreds of millions of dollars in improvements to members is the way we got to this contract -- by standing together store by store and with our communities to demand recognition of the value we earn these corporations every day.'' Union members cast ballots on the contract proposal Monday and Tuesday. The tentative deal was announced Sunday. The previous contract between the union and the grocery companies expired in March. Grocery workers in June voted to authorize a strike if a contract deal could not be reached -- raising fears of a repeat of the 2003-04 Southland grocery strike that dragged on for 141 days. When the tentative deal was announced Sunday, Ralphs spokesman John Votava said, ``We are pleased to have worked with the union to secure increased wages, continued premium health care coverage, and pension.
