SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid ongoing dockless scooter injuries, Mayor Kevin Faulconer Thursday proposed new rules for the devices.The new rules would force companies that provide the dockless scooters to educate riders, provide data to the city, enforce speed limits and purchase permits.Riders would also be required to sign away any of the city’s legal liability should something happen.Speed limits would need to be enforced by the companies using “geofencing technology,” Faulconer said. Some of the most popular areas for the scooters, including the Pacific and Mission Beach boardwalks, would be areas required to have speed limits. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A strong series of earthquakes struck Baja California Monday morning, but was felt throughout San Diego, according to United States Geological Survey data.The first tremor,was reported at 8:09 a.m. and was centered in San Vicente, Mexico -- about 93 miles south of San Diego, according to the USGS. The quake registered 4.4-magnitude.The jolt was followed by two more in quick succession at 8:30 a.m. and 8:31 a.m., both registering 5.2- and 5.1-magnitude respectively, USGS reported.No known injuries or damage have been reported.Various people reported feeling the quake all over Southern California, including numerous locations in San Diego, some as far north as Escondido and east in El Centro. 727
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run Sunday in Sherman Heights, San Diego Police have confirmed to 10News.On Sunday, a silver SUV was traveling eastbound in the 1800 block of Market Street at about 2 a.m. when the vehicle hit a pedestrian. Family members have identified the victim as 41-year-old Jason Gordon.It's still not clear if Gordon was standing in the street or crossing lanes, police said. The driver fled the scene after fatally hitting the man.Police Tuesday released photos of the man they believed to be the suspect of the crash visiting Humberto’s Taco Shop on the corner of Broadway and 25th Street, where he ordered food. The cashier who took the man's order said it appeared that the man had been drinking that night.RELATED: Pedestrian struck, killed by hit-and-run motorist in San DiegoPolice say the photos from the taco shop and photos from Smart Street Lights near the crash scene led them to the home of 28-year-old Christopher Nunez, where they also located the suspected vehicle, a 2008 GMC Envoy.
