FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Lehigh Acres, Florida man is facing two counts of child neglect after police say he left two young children alone in a vehicle while he went into a strip club.23-year-old Willie Lee Jordan, Jr. was arrested Thursday night outside of Scarlett's Cabaret in Fort Myers.According to Fort Myers Police, the children were found crying in the back seat of an SUV by a citizen around 11 p.m.  Police were called to the scene, and arrived to find the citizen, two security personnel, and the children outside the vehicle.The SUV 's windows were open about two inches while the children were alone inside.  The good Samaritans were able to instruct the older child to unlock the doors to get out.Staff inside the club made an announcement in an effort to locate the caretaker of the children. That's when Jordan exited the club and was greeted by police.Jordan told officers that he was only inside for one minute, but police had already been on scene for several minutes by that point.Club staff told police Jordan had been at the club earlier that evening but was turned away for a dress code violation. He later returned properly dressed, and was inside the club for about 20 minutes without checking on the children.Jordan was arrested and released Friday on ,000 bond. 1321

HISTORY OF ISSUESFlorida's issues with elections goes all the way back to 1876. The presidential election was still undecided with Florida being unsure how to award its 4 Electoral College votes. Florida wasn't alone. South Carolina and Louisiana were also unsure. As a result, Congress had to step in and resolve the issue with Rutherford B. Hayes eventually becoming President. Most Americans know Florida because of the issues in 2000. With another presidential election hanging in the balance, Al Gore and George W. Bush battled for votes during a 36-day recount. Palm Beach County's butterfly ballot, with confusing placement of names for some voters, likely resulted in 2,800 votes for Pat Buchanan instead of Gore. "Hanging Chads" in the state became a household phrase nationwide to describe ballots with paper fragments still hanging from them. Ballots that year were hole punch style for many voters. Like in 2000 and 2016, Florida has long been an important state for nominees to win. It has helped choose the winning presidential candidate every election since 1992.RECENT ISSUESIssues in Florida's Elections have continued in recent years. In Broward County, nearly 1,000 uncounted ballots were found in a warehouse in 2012. In 2018, 22 ballots were counted that were supposed to be rejected. And for civil rights activist Opal Lee, it's personal.On Juneteenth about 80 years ago, a mob of some 500 white supremacists tried to scare Lee’s family out of their home in Fort Worth, Texas.“My father came with a gun and the police told him if he busted a cap, they would let the mob have us,” said Lee. “The paper said the police said the crowd was so large, they couldn't control them, but they tore that house apart. They burned furniture.”Lee is now 93 years old, and she's dedicated her life to education and activism. In 2016, she he walked from Texas to D.C. to advocate for Juneteenth to become an official national holiday.Even a pandemic won't stop her.
