SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Three women filed lawsuits Wednesday alleging sexual abuse by multiple clergymen at Living Word Fellowship churches in California over more than a decade.The women said a viral social media post from October 2018 gave them the courage to speak out.Amber Thompson said the abuse started in Los Angeles at the age of 4. "Their attacks continue to haunt me every single day," she said, her voice shaking.The lawsuit describes her as a 7-year-old girl at a church bonfire without her parents, in the company of clergymen, being picked up and taken to a bathroom inside the sanctuary and molested, then taken into the sanctuary and raped.The lawsuit details health issues like urinary tract infections and the fear to use the restroom at school. It states she was raped nine more times on church property before turning 10 years old. She was also abused by her swim coach, according to the documents. Children complained to church leaders about the swim coach, but they were ignored, the lawsuit says.A youth pastor was also named as an alleged perpetrator, stating he wrestled with young girls, including Thompson, and touched their private parts.The document states yet another clergyman would make Thompson sleep in the living room when she had sleepovers with his daughter. During the night, the document states he would molest her, masturbate in front of her and make her touch him.Anaiah Shehori said there are more victims, "there are hundreds of children over decades, literally decades and decades who have been abused."The lawsuit states Shehori was a server for a church party where she was told to wear a mini-skirt and was groped by the clergymen. The document also states she molested by multiple clergymen as a young teen and asked to tell them about her sex life.She was told she was too sexy to perform functions on the stage during service and that she distracted the women's husbands.Lindsey Weck described the hierarchy that allowed the abuse to continue, "I was assigned as all children were a designated relationship or a spiritual parent who is to monitor and control every aspect of my life.""He groomed me into thinking he cared about me in a loving personal way and by the time I was 14, he started having a sexual relationship with me," she said.The lawsuit stated they had a sexual relationship for two years, stopped and started again when she was 17. Her mother found out and went to church leadership, who told her not to contact police.Shehori said the abuse became emotional and mental when she tried to get out of the organization. She said many families have split, some divorcing, trying to leave the church, calling it a cult.The women joined together to "publicly denounce this twisted religious organization that calls itself a church," Thompson said."Anybody who is listening and still there and stuck, you have support from every single one of us and it is possible to leave," Shehori said.To the parents, Thompson had this emotional message "watch for the signs, look for the signs and get them out of there as soon as possible."The Pentecostal church started in 1965 and spread through California, east to Iowa and, according to lawyers who filed the lawsuits, down to Brazil.The church posted these responses in November 2018, according to the law firm: 3320

"Across 16 cities, we had 10,000 people show up," she said.Ly lives in Huntington Beach and said in four days their Facebook page "blew up."She said people are frustrated by the curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. saying it is an overreach, "when the government starts telling you when you can leave the house, how many people you can invite over to your own home."What's happening in the U.S. reminds her of when her family escaped in Vietnam."I was born in China and my parents emigrated to Vietnam, and we came here [to the U.S.] legally but we came here as refugees to escape North Vietnam during the fall of Vietnam ... Just being told what to do, a lot of the government overreach, I feel we're actually on the brink of getting back to that and that's why I'm involved in this," said Ly.She said between layoffs and businesses being forced to close, the impact on people's livelihoods is worse than the virus itself."It's our lives, and we feel we are responsible individuals that can make our own decisions," Ly said.The rallies will continue every Saturday, starting at 10:01 p.m. until Ly and the organizers see change, she added.In San Diego, a rally is planned for Saturday at 10:01 p.m. at 910 N. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego City Council approved dozens of regulation changes Tuesday that Mayor Kevin Faulconer says will increase the supply of housing while lowering development cost.The plan aims to create more homes, lower development costs and promote smart growth.The approval includes changes to the Affordable Housing Density Bonus program, which means developers will be able to build more units in the allotted space.The council also approved Faulconer’s 46 recommended updates to the land development code including easing zoning regulations to create more live/work developments, implementing parking exemptions for designated historic structures and changing ground floor height limits to allow for three-story buildings in 30-feet high limits.Some proposed changes to the Density Bonus Program include: 841

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego County migrant shelter is stepping up protocols Friday after officials announced the number of cases of migrants with flu-like symptoms doubled in 24 hours.A plane full of migrants landed at Lindbergh Field Friday around 1:15 p.m. The concern Friday is the flight may have more sick migrants.Border Patrol officials stated migrants are given a health screening in Texas before they travel to San Diego, and are screened again once they land.County Health officials say when they screened 47 migrants at their downtown shelter, they found 13 migrants with flu-like symptoms. A total of 29 migrants have been diagnosed with the flu since May 19, officials say. Twenty-four migrants are currently quarantined.RELATED: County responds to flu outbreak at shelter, linked to Texas migrants flown to San Diego"This is a new situation to us and I'm told it could get much worse," County Supervisor Dianne Jacob said.Once off the plane, the migrants who crossed illegally in Texas and flown to San Diego are taken to a Border Patrol Facility to be processed by ICE.Eventually, they end up at the shelter. There they get another health screening and starting Thursday, everyone gets a mask and Tamiflu pill as a precaution to keep the sickness from spreading.As of Friday, extra nurses are coming into the shelter to check on the group and ensure no one else has come down with the flu.Those who are diagnosed go with their families to a hotel that has individual air units, so they don't spread the virus. They are educated on why they should stay in the room and, if they leave, what precautions to take so they don't infect others.Migrants in the shelter can come and go as they wish.Border Patrol stated migrants who exhibit flu-like symptoms are not allowed to fly and instead are given medical treatment in Texas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The number of 16-24 year olds looking for jobs is rising across the country, almost getting back to the level it was at before the recession.According to numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20.89 million teens and young adults had jobs in the summer of 2017. That made it the 7th straight year of employment growth in that industry.Similarly, the unemployment rate for people aged 16-24 fell for the 7th straight year. It was at 9.6%, the lowest it had been since 2000. While there still aren't as many teens and young adults working as there was in the 1950's, 60's and 70's, it's a sign that more are looking for, and finding jobs."I'm Saving for a Car"Like many of his peers, Coronado High School Junior Quinn Perez plans to work this summer. He already has a job lined up at Holland's Bicycles."I've worked there for about 2 years now and I've worked my wya up to one of the manager positions," Quinn says.His goal is simple, to save enough for a car."I've always been a fan of Camaros," he says, before adding, "But I'll probably go for a Honda or Jetta or something like that. A little more in my price range."Other students just like having their own money to spend, like Anna Hinz, who is still looking for a job for the summer."It makes me feel like I have a little control over everything I do, rather than my parents making plans for me.""It's all about the attitude"But for the people who do the hiring, why you're working can be as big of an indicator of success as anything.Patti Woods is the Talent Acquisition Supervisor for the YMCA. The YMCA does most of their summer hiring in the spring, because they have thousands of applicants to consider."Don't think you need to wait for the summer to find a summer job," she says.
