The alligator that somehow ended up in Chicago's Humboldt Park has finally been caught.Chance the Snapper, as he came to be known, had been on the loose in the park for almost a week -- forcing a partial shutdown of the site.Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told CNN Tuesday the alligator was caught sometime overnight. Police are holding a news conference at 10 a.m. (11 a.m. ET), where they'll give more details.The city brought in St. Augustine, Florida, alligator expert Frank Robb on Sunday to help capture Chance.State reptile specialists say the reptile is an American alligator between 4 and 5 feet long.The city's Animal Care and Control Executive Director Kelley Gandurski said the city believes the reptile was brought to the lagoon by someone who owned it. It's illegal in Illinois to own an alligator.Gandurski says the city deals with about one alligator-related incident every year, but it's rare to have to deal with them in the wild.The alligator had last been seen on Thursday around 1 a.m. 1041

Harvard Law Professor Jack Goldsmith has a very unique connection to the case, to help determine the truth from the tale.It’s been hailed for the amazing acting, and epic directing, but “The Irishman” truly is a work of fiction when it comes to the storyline about Jimmy Hoffa.The legendary Teamsters leader vanished on July 30, 1975. He was last seen in the parking lot of the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Hills. Hoffa thought he was going to a reconciliation meeting with two mob bosses – New Jersey Teamsters official Tony Provenzano and Detroit mafia captain Tony Giacalone.“The Irishman” glorifies the late Teamster and alleged hit man Frank Sheeran. Sheeran’s so-called confession that he killed Hoffa at the mob’s request was made public in 2003 when author Charles Brandt released the book “I Heard You Paint Houses.” The movie brings that story to life on the big screen – but Hoffa experts say it’s historically just plain wrong."Good art, bad history," says Goldsmith. Goldsmith used to work at the highest levels of the Department of Justice. He’s also the stepson of Chuckie O’Brien – Hoffa’s foster son who was once thought to have driven Hoffa to his death.Goldsmith’s recent book “In Hoffa’s Shadow” reveals what the FBI case agents really think happened to Hoffa."Sheeran was not involved in killing Hoffa," he says. "And he wasn’t actually nearly as close to Hoffa as he was portrayed in the film."Goldsmith says the feds watched a video of Sheeran’s alleged confession—and call it a lie. "They all think it’s preposterous," he says.Goldsmith says Sheeran was caught on FBI surveillance tape telling close friends he wasn’t even in Detroit on the day Hoffa vanished."He had gas receipts, he was at dinner that evening," Goldsmith says. "Nowhere near Detroit, there were 18 people who saw him and he even said in a letter soon thereafter that he gave the FBI all of that evidence why he wasn’t in Detroit."In the movie, Sheeran shoots Hoffa in the vestibule of this home on Beaverland St. on Detroit’s west side.Investigators removed some of the floorboards where blood was found back in 2004 – but the blood did not belong to Hoffa."There’s zero evidence – none at all – that connects Hoffa or Sheeran being there," Goldsmith says.Goldsmith says his stepfather, Chuckie O’Brien hasn’t watched the movie – but he suspects O’Brien would be upset that he’s still being portrayed as the driver who picked Hoffa up at the restaurant. Goldsmith says the feds believe the known whereabouts of O’Brien that day make that impossible- and they no longer consider O’Brien a suspect."He would not have had time to have gone to the Machus Red Fox, picked up Hoffa, and taken him somewhere else," Goldsmith says. Goldsmith also says Sheeran’s claim that they picked Hoffa up at 2:45 contradicts the 3:30pm phone call Hoffa made to his wife from a pay phone in the parking lot."There’s evidence he called his wife Josephine out at the lake where they lived," Goldmisth says. "At 3:30 in the afternoon, that he was tired of waiting for Anthony Giacolone, and that he was going to come home And then that’s the last thing we know about Hoffa. The CDC has recently issued guidance as it says some communities could have rodents aggressively trying to find new sources of food due to coronavirus-related restaurant closures. As restaurants closed nationwide, the supply of food for some rodents was cut off, especially in dense, commercial areas. With life returning to normal, these rodents could be acting aggressively in order to find food. “Some jurisdictions have reported an increase in rodent activity as rodents search for new sources of food,” the CDC said. “Environmental health and rodent control programs may see an increase in service requests related to rodents and reports of unusual or aggressive rodent behavior.”The CDC said that it is not uncommon after disasters such as hurricanes to see a decline in rodent population, following by an increase when life returns back to normal. The CDC said that residents and businesses should eliminate conditions that may attract and support rodent presence. The CDC recommends sealing up access into homes and businesses, removing debris and heavy vegetation, keeping garbage in tightly covered bins, and removing pet and bird food from their yards.According to the CDC, rodents are capable of spreading up to 35 different infectious diseases. These diseases can be spread directly to humans by rodent feces, urine, or saliva, or through rodent bites, or indirectly through ticks, mites or fleas that have fed on an infected rodent. 1458

The General Motors strike has caused a major disruption in the supply of auto parts to mechanics. Hannah Pelletier of Davis Auto Repair got the last brake module in her town to fix Chevy Suburban. “With the strike, we’re seeing parts take a week to two weeks,” said Pelletier.Pelletier said the typical wait is one to two days. “We normally get daily shipments and right now the shipments ha been sporadic,” said David Hunn, the service manager at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet in Aurora, Colorado. It’s not just the independent repair shops either. GM dealerships like Ed Bozarth's also in Aurora doesn’t know when their deliveries are coming. "Right now I’ve got three vehicles that are tied up waiting on parts,” Bozarth said.Hunn said one of his customers has been waiting three weeks to get their car fixed. There’s nothing he can do right now. He can’t fix it without the right pieces. In a statement, GM said dealers have a limited supply of parts, but that they're supplementing with inventory from wholesale dealers and other suppliers. The company says its ability to ship from distribution centers is limited. “Being an independent shop, our employees are very important to us. So if they felt they weren’t being taken care of we would want to do what we can because they’re what builds my business,” said Pelletier. Pelletier said she understands why the workers went on strike. But that doesn’t change the fact that she still needs parts to fix cars. “I would say if we had it for another month, that’s when we’re really going to start feeling it,” said Pelletier And dealerships like Ed Bozarth have been well stocked. “We do have a really good inventory plus we have two dealerships in town that we, we trade parts back and forth with,” said Hunn.
