BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's anti-graft authorities announced on Monday in a statement that during the year it had found 21.5 billion yuan (3.24 billion U.S.Dollar) of public money held in unauthorized departmental coffers.The probe was led by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.The probe had put government agencies, public institutions, social groups, state-owned and state holding enterprises under scrutiny, and had uncovered 45,593 cases of public money being held in unauthorized departmental coffers, involving a total of 21.5 billion yuan.A total of 2,669 officials involved in these cases have been punished, also according to the statement.

BEIJING, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese credit rating firm Dagong Global Credit Rating assessed the sovereign credit rating of Ireland at BBB in its third sovereign or regional credit rating report released Monday.Dagong's credit rating of Ireland is lower than that given by Moody's, Standard and Poor's and Fitch."Dagong made its assessment based on factors such as Ireland's increasing debt level, the administrative capability of its government, economic and financial strength," Dagong Global said.Dagong Global's announcement follows the proposed 85-billion-euro bailout of debt-hit Ireland by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund.Dagong's report also rated four other nations - Finland, Uruguay, Kenya and Sudan.In terms of domestic currency-denominated debt, Finland received the firm's top AAA rating, but with a negative outlook.Uruguay was rated BB-plus while Kenya received a B rating.Sudan was rated C, the nation's first sovereign credit rating.Dagong Global uses a three-level assessment system, with each level containing three sub-levels. For example, AAA, AA and A.The rating agency published sovereign credit ratings in two earlier reports. One on July 11 rated 50 countries. BEIJING, Dec.19 (Xinhua) -- China's land regulators urged local land authorities late Sunday to take concrete measures against excessive growth in the country's land prices in some Chinese cities and crack down on illegal behavior, such as land hoarding, to ensure the implementation of the government's cooling measures on the property market.The Ministry of Land and Resources(MOLAR) said in a statement on its web site that the recently seen high prices in land sales in some Chinese cities had raised social concerns, which local land authorities should pay considerable attention to, and take actions to curb the rapid growth in land prices.According to the MOLAR, cities and counties that had not provided more than 70 percent of the total land supply this year to shantytown renovation, the construction of affordable homes and medium-priced commercial housing, should not provide land for high-end housing for the rest of this year.Further, for land sales with over 50 percent premium rate or record high prices, local governments should report to provincial land authorities and the MOLAR within two working days after the deal is closed.The procedures of supplying land should also be strictly conducted, and there should never be any change in the use of land that is for the construction of affordable housing, said the statement.

GUANGZHOU, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- A fishing boat with at least 13 crew aboard has been missing for a week in waters off the coast of south China's Guangdong Province, authorities said Friday.The boat, registered in Yangxi County, Yangjiang City, was unable to be located at its anchoring spot in Dongping Port at 3 a.m. on Dec. 16, when other boats in the port that were taking shelter from strong winds received the boat's distress call, Yangxi County marine affairs officials said.Winds of up to 72 kilometers per hour started blowing on Dec. 15, whipping up five- to six-meter-high waves, the official said.The family of the boat's owner, Feng Zixing, reported the boat missing on Dec. 17, after private searches failed to find the boat or its crew.Feng and most of the missing crew are from the county's Lanpao Village.A search for the boat had found nothing by 7 p.m. Friday.The 28-meter-long, 5-meter-wide boat was built with steel in 2001. It was equipped with radar and walkie-talkies.
