BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- China reiterated its commitment to support Sudan's peace process, stressing that peace, stability and development of the country were of pivotal importance."The involved parties should resolve disputes through dialogue and consultation and work together to promote a smooth referendum in southern Sudan," Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry here Wednesday.Yang's remarks came during the talks with his visiting Sudanese counterpart Ahmed Ali Karti. It is his second official trip to China within three months since becoming foreign minister. The previous visit took place on Sept. 14 this year.

BEIJING, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang said Wednesday China and France should together promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.Li made the remarks while meeting with former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin and General Secretary of the Union for a Popular Movement (UPM) Jean-Francois Cope in Beijing.Li spoke highly of Raffarin's long-term contribution to Sino-French ties. He congratulated Cope on becoming General Secretary of the UPM.Referring to the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders during Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to France in early November, Li said the China-France relations are developing well.He suggested the two nations further enhance communication and coordination on major international and regional issues while deepening pragmatic cooperation in all areas.Li said the Communist Party of China (CPC) attaches importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with the UPM.The CPC hopes to enhance mutual understanding and trust with the UPM so as to make a positive contribution to bilateral ties and China-Europe ties, he added.Raffarin said China is playing an increasingly important global role.He said he hopes to continue to deepen friendship between the two peoples.Cope said the UPM hopes to strengthen party-to-party exchange and boost bilateral cooperation and communication with the CPC.Founded in 2002 by Jacques Chirac, the UPM currently enjoys an absolute majority in the National Assembly and a plurality in the Senate of France.Its leader, Nicolas Sarkozy, was elected President of France in 2007.

BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee met Tuesday in a meeting on anti-corruption, demanding greater efforts in addressing problems the masses complained about most and fighting corruption among grassroots officials.The meeting was presided over by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Hu Jintao. The participants heard a report of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC over anti-corruption work for 2010 and discussed related plans for 2011.The meeting has called for further efforts to address problems concerning construction projects, and vehicles bought and used at public expenses.Those attending the meeting said regulations and disciplines that govern the selection of officials must be strictly followed and related unsound practices should be corrected.Noting that fighting corruption was still a tough task, the meeting urged all related authorities to step up anti-corruption efforts towards building a clean government.Further, more work must be done to improve officials' style of work and cement ties between the CPC and the masses, the meeting participants said.Also, the participants called for efforts towards building an improved anti-corruption system that consisted of corruption prevention and punishment.Such a move, they added, would facilitate the implementation of China's development blueprint for the 12th Five-Year-Plan period (2011-2015) and China's social and economic development.China will mark the 90th anniversary of CPC's founding next year. WENCHANG, Hainan, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- China is building a science theme park in the middle of its newest spaceport to promote space science among the country's younger generation.The theme park, covering an area of 1,800 mu (120 hectares) in Wenchang City, southern Hainan Province, is located at the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center. The project is estimated to cost 3 billion yuan (455 million U.S. dollars) and is expected to be finished in 2013, the theme park's designers said.Wenchang Satellite Launch Center, whose construction began in 2007, is planned as the launch pad for China's lunar probe rocket in 2013.At the same time, the theme park will have four exhibition sections, featuring the earth, moon, Mars and the sun. Visitors can even enter parts of the launch station and watch the actual rocket launch, theme park construction officials said.The theme park is being built by China Aerospace International Holdings Limited, a Hong Kong listed arm of the state-owned China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.There are currently three space launch sites in China, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center and the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
