SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after they say a man was stabbed while sitting on a bench at Balboa Park early Sunday morning.The stabbing happened on the 2000 block of Park Boulevard at 12:26 a.m. Police reported that the suspect walked up to the 29-year-old victim and asked him for a cigarette.After telling the suspect he didn’t have one, the victim was stabbed in the neck, according to police.The wound was non-life threatening and the victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, police say.Police are still looking for the suspect.   The assailant is described as a tanned Asian male wearing a blue jacket and about 5'5" tall. 684

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Wednesday arrested a woman they say vandalized a church Monday afternoon. Kelly Duggan, 26, was arrested after police say she caused more than ,000 worth of damage to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.10News Reporter Bree Steffen Reach out Duggan, who agreed to a jailhouse interview. Duggan told us that she's in an emotional state, heartbroken over her mother's death. "I don't know what's going on anymore, and that's what's making me mad," she said. "I'll still pay for it, that's fine."According to authorities, Duggan threw a wooden kneeler at a Plexiglas window protecting a religious shrine, breaking both the kneeler and the glass.Duggan also destroyed several flower vases decorating the shrine before leaving the church, police say. She was arrested for felony vandalism after being spotted in Barrio Logan.Duggan said she didn't vandalize the church out of disrespect or hate for the faith. The church told 10News they caught Duggan's action on their surveillance cameras but didn't share the video because they worried that people who saw might harm her. Duggan had this message for the church: "Thank you for forgiving me, you know, out of the kindness of your heart."  1265

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Police are investigating a shooting in Ocean Beach that left a man dead early Tuesday morning.According to San Diego police, gunfire was reported at around 1 a.m. on the beach by Lifeguard Tower No. 2 near 1900 Abbott Street. Witnesses reported hearing as many as four shots fired, ABC 10News learned.Responding officers arrived at the scene to find an unidentified man with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.Despite life-saving measures, the man was declared dead at the scene. The victim was described by police as a man in his 50s or 60s, and witnesses believe he was homeless and frequents the Ocean Beach area. Officers are searching the area for the gunman, but a detailed description of the suspected shooter was not immediately available. 784

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Photos captured along the shores of San Diego show the return of a bioluminescent glow cause by a phenomenon known as the red tide. Pictures posted on social media show the eerie neon glow. According to several San Diego photographers who captured the phenomenon, the bioluminescence was captured along the shores of La Jolla and Torrey Pines State Beach Wednesday night. The glow is created by an algae bloom called the red tide. The algae bloom is filled with phytoplankton called "dinoflagellates.” The organisms react with bioluminescence when jostled by the moving water. "Where the wave crashes onto the shore, as it rolls over that’s where the turbulence is highest," said Clarissa Anderson at The Scripps Instutition of Oceanography. "That’s why those are really bright stripes of light. We don’t know the exact smoking gun yet.
