SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A day-long technology fair promises to give senior citizens all the tools they need to stay up-to-date in the digital age.San Diego Oasis will host the tech fair at the Grossmont Center movie theaters on Tuesday, October 15."We're covering all areas of life," says Oasis CEO Simona Valanciute. "We want to show how technology can make it more fun, more safe and more connected."Classes at the fair will cover iPhone basics, podcasting, micro-mobility options, voice-enabled tech, cloud storage, identity theft, cord-cutting and more.Norma Mendenhall has taken a handful of iPhone classes at Oasis already. She says this kind of education is vital for her peers."As a senior, sitting at home, thinking that's not for me, I can't do that, I'm nervous about it, this is the place to take all of that doubt away," says Mendenhall.That advice is the same thing San Diego County officials want to spread. According to the County, there will be 1.2 million people above age 65 by the year 2030. Making sure they all are connected is key to keeping them safe."We've really never seen this kind of demographic shift," says Valanciute. "So, we all need to plan for this."The fair is free to anyone over 50, but San Diego Oasis wants people to register on their website. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As police ramp up their probe, an Otay Mesa dog owner believes his dog may also have been targeted by a pepper spray-wielding mail carrier.The owner of 9-year-old Roscoe didn't want identified, but he tells 10news about two months ago - moments after their mail carrier left - Roscoe started to twitch in pain, which lasted minutes. He say Roscoe was behind a gate and not a threat to the postal carrier. Hours later, the dog's eyes were still red. The dog's owner didn't report it, but says another neighbor complained about a similar occurrence. Both of their homes are just blocks from the Galindo home on Agosto Street."Makes me feel angry and so sad that he's causing so much pain," said Alfonso Galindo.Earlier this week, he spoke to 10news about the strange stains on his patio that prompted him to check his surveillance video. He watched the unbelievable unfold: a postal carrier appearing to hold pepper spray under the mail, as he walked by a metal gate. Behind the gate is his 7-year-old rescue Pupa. At the same time, Pupa begins convulsing for minutes."Sickening. It's scary how nonchalant he is. He's done this before," said Galindo.Galindo says he found nine similar incidents in the recordings on his hard drive, about a month's worth. The Postal Service issued an apology, saying the 'appropriate action' will be taken."That left me with a question. Is this person going to be retrained and put back on my route? That's not going to cut it," said Galindo.There are also more questions about the impact on his two young children, who are constantly touching and hugging Pupa. For months, they've suffered mysterious respiratory issues, requiring frequent trips to the hospital. On Wednesday, both were diagnosed with asthma. Galindo says more tests need to be done, but doctors believe the pepper spray could be the cause, and at the minimum, is an aggravating factor."I'm scared to find out where this could take my children. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 105-year-old World War II veteran is set to receive his college diploma 83 years after graduating.Bill Vogt, who was one of the first students to set foot on San Diego State University's campus after it opened in 1931, will receive his diploma in commerce retro-dated to Feb. 1, 1935, on Thursday.Vogt graduated from SDSU mid-year in 1935 but never got a printed diploma. He is the last remaining SDSU student to have attended classes at the university's old campus in University Heights, according to the school.The special presentation comes after Vogt elected to become a lifetime member of SDSU Alumni in May, a special alumni program offered by the university. He's also believed to be the oldest person ever to become an Alumni lifetime member, the school added.The WWII veteran served in the US Navy, and also served in the Korea and Vietnam wars. He's spent several years working on the East Coast as well since his graduation. 984

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A jury has reached a verdict in the trial of a woman accused of drunkenly dragging her co-worker with her car before fatally running him over in Kearny Mesa.Latisha Ingram, 33, was convicted of second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and drunken driving in the death of 25- year-old Ha Minh Ta.Prosecutors say Ingram, Ta, and a group of co-workers went out for drinks on Convoy Street last June, when Ingram tried to driver herself home. Ta tried to stop her, eventually grabbing the door of her car. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver apparently lost control of his SUV and crash landed on the roof of a University City home early Tuesday morning.The crash happened at around 1:15 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pennant Way, according to San Diego police.Bill Crane told ABC 10News that after he heard a loud crash, he came out of his home and saw the male driver in his yard and the Jeep Cherokee Laredo on top of his next-door neighbor’s house."I was asleep at the time and I heard this crash, and I came out and I looked around and saw a guy kind of wandering near behind me, by what's left of the tree, and he was just kind of stumbling and I couldn't figure out what the hell that was. Because you usually don't think of a car being on someone's roof. So, when I finally figured that out, I went in to get my phone, and came back out and called 911, and he was gone,” Crane said.Crane called 911 to report the crash, and he then called the woman who lives in the house. However, Crane said the woman initially didn’t believe her.Crane added, "I called her twice and she said, 'What, a car on my roof? I'm not going out there, I can't believe that.’ It is pretty unbelievable.”ABC 10News learned the woman was asleep at the time and never heard the crash. She believes the SUV was coming down Pennant Way, somehow veered on a resident’s front lawn and launched onto her garage.A towing service used a crane to remove the Jeep from the roof of the home’s garage.There is no word on how much damage the home sustained, but inspectors said the house was structurally sound despite the wreck.No one was hurt in the crash.As of late Tuesday morning, police have not tracked down the SUV's driver. 1692
