SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego museums are getting ready to welcome thousands of visitors as Museum Month approaches. This year, Museum Month spans between February 1 and the 29. Throughout the month, San Diegans and visitors can pick up a special pass to save 50 percent at more than 40 museums throughout the city. The free passes are available at dozens of San Diego County libraries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police announced Wednesday the arrests of two young men on suspicion of burglaries in Scripps Ranch and La Mesa.Joshua Guillen, 22, and Daniel Gomez, 18, were identified through photo recognition and D.N.A. evidence, police said.The Scripps Ranch burglary happened at a home on Red Cedar Dr. in May. 10News spoke with the homeowner, Bob Arban, who said he received an alert on his phone, indicating someone inside his home.RELATED: Owner watches burglary live on surveillance cameraSeveral items were stolen before police arrived.  Arban's home surveillance video was used to track down the suspects.Police said Guillen and Gomez were also identified in another residential burglary in La Mesa.  762

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Fire-Rescue crews removed a body from Chollas Lake Monday, fire officials said. The man, identified only as Hispanic and in his mid- to late 20s, was found about noon at the lake at 5850 College Grove Drive in the Oak Park neighborhood. Brianna Yasel and her friends were at the lake and realized something was wrong."I couldn't tell what it was; it looked like a rock to me. Once they pulled it out and flipped it over, my friend was able to see the hand at first and it did look like he was under the water for a while. He just didn't look too good," said Yasel."The body was discovered almost in the center of the lake; a passerby said it looked somewhat suspicious. He noticed it moved by an rock cropping," said San Diego Police Lt. Ernesto Servin.San Diego Police are investigating to determine the cause of death and the man’s identity, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The Medical Examiner was also called to the scene.Chollas Lake, which served as a reservoir from 1901 to 1966, is open during daylight hours for recreation. The lake was closed Monday due to the investigation."It was crazy because we always come here because it's such a peaceful place. It's very sad actually," said Servin. 1241

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents will be able to catch the County Administration Building's celebration of the Festival of Lights through Dec. 18.The building will light up nightly in blue and white until Dec. 18, according to the county.The nightly show adds to the list of distanced celebrations San Diegans will enjoy this year due to the pandemic.On Monday, the Del Mar Fairgrounds will host a drive-in concert at 4:30 p.m. as part of The Chabad Centers of San Diego County's Chanukah Spectacular, featuring a Grand Menorah lighting, Chanukah gifts, and musical performances headlined by Israeli pop star Gad Elbaz. Tickets can be purchased online.Hanukkah, which means "dedication," is celebrated by lighting candles on the menorah each day of the 8-day holiday at sundown. The lights are intended to let passersby see them and be reminded of the holiday's miracle.Once the Jews defeated the Hellenist Syrian forces of Antiochus IV in 165 B.C. following a three-year rebellion, the temple in Jerusalem was rededicated to Judah Maccabee, who led the insurgency.According to the story of the holiday, Maccabee and his soldiers wanted to light the temple's ceremonial lamp but found only enough oil to burn for one day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents downtown are fighting against adding more low-income housing. They say it's only making the homeless problem worse. Merle Jones moved to this East Village high rise for the views and the lush lifestyle."It's categorized as a luxury apartment complex, and there's nothing really luxury about it at all right now," said Jones. Homeless people frequent the streets and sidewalks outside the property. "There was a knife fight that broke out and that was in the afternoon," said Jones. "My girlfriend she's not even comfortable walking outside alone so its an issue."In an effort to fight the deadly Hepatitis A outbreak,  more shelters and housing solutions are popping up downtown. One of them is a 16-story high rise for low-income families on 14th and Commercial Streets. "I don’t believe that's a good idea," said Jones. "I think they need to clean up the area because when you have that type of housing, it attracts attention from other areas."The high rise is one of five Father Joe's projects to add about 2,500 affordable housing units. One-third of them would be downtown. More than 500 people signed an online petition to move more housing solutions to other parts of the county. "I think it would be a nice distribution of the concentration of it so that way it's not just one area and one area's problem," said Jones. For now, he's stuck paying high rent for a view he's not happy with.  "I pay quite a bit, so I expect a certain level of lifestyle when I'm living here," said Jones. "When my lease is up, I do plan on moving towards the other end of downtown that’s a little safer and a lot cleaner."The building is set to open January 2021.  1830
