(KGTV) - Vietnam War veterans are being honored at the 2017 Miramar Air Show.One of the most special tributes will be the Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall, cared for by Point Man Antelope Valley (PMAV), a veterans outreach organization that ministers to veterans of all wars.It's a half-scale size tribute monument of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. But beyond the cute photo opportunities, the hungry kangaroos are at risk of dying on the roads as their feeding times coincide with rush hour.Canberra has more than 30 nature reserves, with most hosting hundreds of Eastern Grey Kangaroos, and it is not unusual to see them in the reserves or in roads or yards nearby, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Parks and Conservation Service Director Daniel Iglesias told CNN.But he said this winter the animals were far more visible."Canberra is experiencing a perfect storm of hardship for its kangaroos. New records have been set in Canberra for very cold, frosty nights this winter. This, coupled with very dry conditions with very little rain at all in June and July, means there is very little food for kangaroos, " Iglesias said, via email."Sports ovals, suburban yards, schoolyards and roadsides are the few places offering any green grass at all in Canberra at the moment and they act as magnets for kangaroos," he said.Driving in areas with large populations of kangaroos is ill-advised during the animals' dawn and dusk feeding times as they can jump in front of moving vehicles without warning. MILWAUKEE — Christopher R. Ward has been charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the death of 14-year-old Jada Wright. Police responded to the scene late last Wednesday night at their home on the city's northwest side. According to police, Jada has cerebral palsy, and Ward was her personal care worker. Initially, the 18-year-old defendant reported to police that Jada had complications with her feeding earlier that night. He said was not involved in her death, and claimed she had a history of injuring herself.Jada's school physical therapist said she never saw Jada injure herself. She also said Jada was missing from school for a month.Ward was taken into custody after an autopsy revealed blunt force trauma to her abdomen.After further questioning, Ward admitted he had become frustrated with the girl while trying to feed her through her feeding tube. She had maneuvered her tube out of her stomach, frustrating him further. In response, he punched her in the stomach. Ward reconnected her tube and left the room. Upon returning, he saw she had vomited on herself, and did not seek additional care for her or tell first responders about his actions.    1207

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- An organization in the South Bay is using dance to educate others about the Filipino culture. PASACAT, which is based in National City, is a Philippine Performing Arts Company and educational center. Anamaria Cabato is the current executive director. For her, it is a family passion. Her parents founded the organization nearly 50 years ago. Over the years, she has had nearly a dozen family members involved in the dance troupe. “It brings me to tears,” Cabato told 10News. “This is a family in itself and to have your own members of your family [involved] is just icing on the cake.” Lupe Macario is Anamaria’s sister and the grandmother of a couple of the current dancers. “We’re just delighted that they take up and embrace the culture,” Macario said. Her granddaughter, Gabby Macario, is now performing the same dances she used to perform in the 1970s.Gabby Macario, like many of the young dancers in PASACAT, was born in the United States. She said learning traditional Filipino dances is something she loves. She’s been dancing since she was five-years-old. “It’s really fun because I like learning all the dances,” Gabby said. 10News asked what would tell others who have never seen this type of dancing.“I would first tell them to try to see what we do and introduce them to what we do,” the 10-year-old said. PASACAT has had its share of setbacks, including major damage to the studio during a storm in December. The storm damaged the roof, the floor, and ruined many traditional dance costumes. They continue to raise funds for the organization through a GoFundMe page. Still, Cabato said they persevere for a bigger cause. “There’s a lack of understanding and if we appreciate all cultures of the world because this opens the doors to other people, and to understand them. You find that there’s similarities and if you find those similarities, then there’s no reason to have differences,” Cabato said. 1954

NATIONAL CITY (KGTV) - National City mayor Ron Morrison is asking voters to change term limit rules to allow him to run for a fourth term in November.Morrison supports Measure B in next month's June 5 special election. Measure B would establish term limits for the mayor, city council, city clerk, and city treasurer. Officials could serve up to two four-year terms. However, it would essentially reset the clock, allowing Morrison to run in 2018 and 2022."If they want to keep the people in office that are in right now, whether it's the mayor, councilpeople, city clerk, city treasurer, they should have that right to be able to do that," Morrison said in an interview with 10News.National City voters passed Measure T in 2004, which imposed term limits only on the mayoral position, allowing three terms. Morrison was first elected Mayor in 2006.Opponents have put their own measure on the June ballot, Measure C. It would establish the same term limits, but count Morrison's time as mayor, meaning he could not run again.City councilmember Alejandra Soleto-Solis, who is running for mayor, supports Measure C, telling 10News it's time for new blood in the mayor's office. She opposes Measure B."It's one person trying to create a loophole for himself, at the cost of 3,000 for National City taxpayers," Soleto Solis said, referencing the cost for June's special election.Should both measures pass, the measure which receives the most votes will be enacted. 1476
