SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Students at National University tried to absorb a seismic announcement Tuesday: a 0-million gift from philanthropist T. Denny Sanford. The donation is the largest ever for any school in the county. The San Diego-based school will be renamed Sanford National University beginning in July."Putting National University on the national scene. That’s what it is," said Sanford at an announcement with school officials. School officials hope the gift will allow them to double the student population within a few years and climb the national rankings by investing in digital technology, lower-priced classes, and marketing. They're also hoping to slash the annual tuition in half, down to the ,000 to ,000 range. No timetable for the tuition drop was given."Amazing. People struggling with the debt. Won't be as big a burden. It's a significant amount," said nursing student Kyra Storkerson. 920
You could say Sindy Bregman and Allison Young are modern day golden girls. Just like Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia from the hit show The Golden Girls, Bregman and Young live together, all while experiencing life in their golden years. As of three months ago, Bregman and Young was perfect strangers. Bregman had recently lost a partner, and Young’s apartment building was being torn down.“So then I thought, well, I’ll go back to what I was doing in college when I was a young, starving actress, and thought well, I’ll get a roommate!” Young says. For Bregman, it was her first time ever pursuing a roommate. But it made perfect sense. Not only did a roommate help financially and emotionally, it also helped with safety, says Bregman. Having a roommate also provided companionship. According to AARP, one-third of Americans over the age of 45 say they're lonely. That’s why non-profits like Senior Homeshares--where the two friends found each other--are growing. "What you do is you sign up either as a home seeker or homeowner, [and] you fill out a profile,” explains Stephanie Heacox, creator of SeniorHomeshares.org. Heacox says the process is similar to filling out a dating profile. Users list their preferences, including what they’re looking for in a housemate. Bregman’s profile stated she was "neat, clean and responsible" and looking for the same to share her apartment. “The first person I pulled up was Sindy, and her introduction was just perfect for me,” recalls Young. The new friends and roommates are also fans of The Golden Girls, with Young calling herself a Blanche. “I think I’m more like a Dorothy,” replies Bregman. However, the pair says there’s another sitcom that may be even more appropriate to describe them. "Even though we might be a little bit like The Odd Couple,” Bregman says, laughing. “Like yanno, Oscar and Felix. We make it work." 1890

(CNN) -- Christie Brinkley's daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook will be replacing her mom on this season of "Dancing with the Stars" after the supermodel fell and broke her arm during rehearsals, Christie's rep confirms to CNN."Showbiz is all about getting a break, and Sailor and I both got one on 'Dancing with the Stars' this season," Christie said in a statement to "Good Morning America." "Sailor joined the cast when I got mine ... ouch somebody stop me, it hurts to laugh!"Her rep says that Brinkley tripped over her partner's foot during a turn, and suffered a fall.ABC said in a statement to PEOPLE that Brinkley required surgery to her wrist and arm."We wish Christie a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her in the audience, whenever possible, proudly supporting Sailor," the statement said.Brinkley's daughter has already started rehearsals for the show, which premieres Monday."I felt this high of just attacking something I was so afraid of and it felt like something I need to do," she told "GMA." "I think it will change me."She added her mom is her inspiration."I'm doing this mostly for my mom!" she said. "I just want to make her happy and make her proud. She loved doing this, she loves dancing and she loves performing and getting hurt was her worst nightmare."The intense rehearsal schedule has also sidelined Jewel and Nancy O'Dell in the past.
