(KGTV) — Facebook told 10News Friday they are aware of a disturbing viral video showing abuse of a child and have removed it from the social media platform.In a Facebook post Sunday, a person is seen repeatedly slapping a child on the head with both hands throughout the 47-second video. The young child is seen screaming next to a bucket clutching a towel, as the person pummels the child with slaps.The video of the apparent abuse originated in South Africa, a Facebook spokesperson told 10News. (KGTV) – A U.S. Forest Service firefighter was injured while battling a vegetation fire that has burned 10 acres in the Cleveland National Forest near the community of Alpine.The firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment according to U.S. Forest Service's Anabele Cornejo. No other details were available.Amid strong Santa Ana winds in the area Friday, a wildfire erupted in the Japatul Valley area of San Diego's East County.The blaze was reported just before 1 p.m. Friday near the 21000 block of Japatul Road, southeast of Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol.According to the CHP, dark smoke was visible from the agency’s Interstate 8 viewpoint. The CHP also noted the strong winds swirling in the area.Cal Fire San Diego said the fire went on to burn at least 10 acres as of 1:55 p.m., but good progress was made in the firefight thanks to crews on the ground and aerial water and retardant drops.No evacuation orders were issued, but residents in the nearby area were told to shelter in place as a precaution.With Santa Ana winds whipping in the county’s inland and mountain areas, a Red Flag warning was in effect until early Saturday morning. 1186

(KGTV) -- A woman traveling with her daughter was arrested after Border Patrol agents found nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in her car.The arrest and seizure occurred July 21 during a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 5 in San Clemente, Customs and Border Protection officials said.According to CBP officials, an agent patrolling the area stopped a 2003 Honda Accord and asked the 38-year-old female driver for permission to search the car.After obtaining permission, the agent’s K-9 was alerted to something, prompting an in-depth inspection. The agent then found 28 bundles of meth inside the Accord’s gas tank.CBP officials said the bundles, weighing a total of 28.88 pounds, all tested positive for methamphetamine. The drugs were turned over to the DEA, and Border Patrol agents seized the car.Agents arrested the woman, a U.S. citizen; her six-year-old daughter was placed with child protective services. 933

(KGTV) - A San Diego man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he stabbed two classmates during a reenactment of a movie scene at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.The man, identified as Jake Wascher, 21, was in an on-campus apartment with two male classmates when the stabbing occurred."A 21 year old male suffered one puncture wound to the chest and four to the back. A second victim a 19 year old male suffered from a single puncture wound to the chest as well as a puncture wound to the back," Lieutenant Paul Cicero with Hartford Police said.Wascher attended the Coronado School of the Arts, a pre-professional arts education program on Coronado High School's campus. His Facebook page states he graduated in 2016.10News spoke with a former student of CoSA, who worked as a tech for a year."CoSA is really a mostly just a bunch of nerds, all of the acting kids and music students, just dorks really," Christian Molenaar said. "I feel like most people aren't worried about getting stabbed in high school theater," he said.Molenaar was shocked when he learned of the events that unfolded Sunday, saying his younger sister graduated the same year as Wascher.Police say Wascher fled the crime scene and hid in a nearby wooded area, then gave himself up.
