OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A car reportedly flew off a freeway in North San Diego County, causing a chain reaction collision.A 20-year-old woman driving a Buick reportedly careened off westbound SR-78 near El Camino Real, through the fence separating the freeway from the Vista Way, and collided head-on with a Ford Thunderbird being driven by a 47-year-old woman traveling eastbound.The collision set off a chain reaction, sideswiping a Nissan van towing a small boat. The boat then came loose from its trailer and flew into the westbound lanes of Vista Way, striking a Toyota Prius, being driven by a 43-year-old man, and a Chrysler 300 being driven by a 95-year-old man.The driver and a male passenger in the Buick both sustained major injuries and were airlifted to Scripps La Jolla hospital. Another male passenger sitting in the back seat of the Buick received minor injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center.The driver of the Thunderbird was slightly injured as well, but not taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.Police are investigating what led to the Buick driving off the freeway, but said they do not suspect alcohol or drugs to have been a factor. 1216

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha Police Department (OPD) says a preliminary investigation into President Donald Trump's MAGA rally Tuesday at Eppley Airport shows seven people were transported to local hospitals for "a variety of medical conditions" and many more sought aid for other medical reasons.About 25,000 people were taken from the parking lots to the rally site via 40 buses over the course of the day. The buses started running at 10 a.m. CT. When the rally ended and President Donald Trump left, there was high demand for buses around 9 p.m. It was already 34 degrees outside at that time. Reports from the rally indicate thousands of attendees were stranded in the cold, waiting for buses to take them back to their cars. A Trump administration official told local media the buses were delayed by a traffic jam on access roads near the airport. OPD says buses for people with handicaps were made available and additional buses from the Metro Area Transit Authority were called in to give people a ride back to their vehicles. Some did choose to walk back to their cars, which was about 2.5 miles away. (KGTV) - Whale watchers enjoyed a rare encounter off the Southern California coast Monday: four orcas teaming up to prey on dolphins. “It’s very, very rare,” said Oceanside Whale Watching manager Carla Mitroff. The company had a boat full of whale watchers off San Clemente when the orcas appeared. Boat Captain Shane and staff biologist Lauren Turley captured the moment. “They were thrilled beyond thrilled,” Mitroff said of the passengers. “It’s the holy grail of whale watching.” The Eastern Tropical Pacific orcas pass through Southern California after a stop in Mexico, Mitroff said. The whale watching team hasn’t seen orcas in more than a year. Monday, the orca pod preyed on two baby dolphins as the mother tried to fight the killer whales. It's not unusual for orcas to eat larger mammals.“The diet of orcas depends to some extent on what is available where they live,” according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. One ecotype of orcas in the Pacific Northwest eats fish, while other ecotypes eat marine mammals and squid. Killer whales are “considered a top predator, eating near the top of the food chain.” 1171
