BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo met with a U.S. congress delegation led by Howard L. SHANGHAI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China would firmly stick to its moderately easy monetary policy and concrete the recovery momentum of the country's economy, said vice governor of China's central bank on Wednesday. Su Ning, Vice Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC) made the remarks in a meeting held in the bank's Shanghai-based headquarter, saying a proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy were crucial for sustained growth.     Despite an initial economy recovery resulted from the government's stimulus efforts in the first half, the country still faced severe difficulties and challenges from both domestic and abroad.     In the second half, the PBOC would use a set of monetary policy mix to coordinate a "reasonable" credit structure based on market rules, and to ensure more loans to major infrastructure construction and technology innovation, Said Su.     China's economy rebounded to grow 7.9 percent in the second quarter driven by a surge of fixed-asset investment backed by government's 4-trillion-yuan stimulus package on last September.     Chinese banks lent a record 7.37 trillion yuan in the first half to shore up the economy, which sank to 6.1 percent in the first quarter.

QINGDAO, Shandong, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- The fourth Sino-U.S. Energy Policy Dialogue opened Sunday in the coastal city of Qingdao in east China's Shandong Province.     China and the U.S. have huge potentials to cooperate in developing wind, solar and nuclear power. Both countries shall hold responsibilities to develop more technologies and equipment to tackle the challenges of climate changes, said David Sandalow, assistant secretary for Policy and International Affairs at the Energy Department.     Zhang Yuqing, an official with China's National Energy Administration, said China is willing to learn advanced technologies of exploring gas. The consumption of gas has been growing by 20 percent every year since 2006.     The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the dialogue in 2004. The first forum was held in 2005 in the U.S.

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- China will lower gasoline and diesel prices by 190 yuan (27.8 U.S. dollars) per tonne from Wednesday, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced Tuesday.     The benchmark price of gasoline will be 6,620 yuan a tonne, and for diesel 5,880 yuan a tonne, according to the NDRC.     The retail price of gasoline will drop by 0.14 yuan per liter and that of diesel will decrease by 0.16 yuan per liter.     It is the eighth fuel price adjustment since the country adopted a new fuel pricing mechanism, which took effect on Jan. 1 and the first reduction of fuel prices in two months.     Under the pricing mechanism, the NDRC will consider changing the benchmark retail prices of oil products when the international crude price changes more than 4 percent over 22 straight working days.     The price cut was in accordance with the international price changes, the NDRC said.     The average crude price of Brent, Dubai and Cinta has declined to 71.52 U.S. dollars a barrel, down 5.02 percent since the previous fuel price adjustment, according to the Shanghai-based CBI (China) Co., Ltd., a leading service provider in Chinese commodity markets.

He had processed more than 830,000 pieces of military archives.
