(KGTV) — An asteroid whizzed by Earth this week closer than our distance from the moon and with enough force to level a city, scientists say.Asteroid 2019 OK careened past our planet Wednesday about 45,000 miles away and inside Earth's orbit with the moon, according to the International Astronomical Union.The asteroid was discovered this week by astronomy teams in Brazil and the U.S. before it made its pass by Earth. It measures an estimated 187 to 426 feet, or 57 to 130 meters, across, enough to be deemed a "city-killer" by scientists. 550

(KGTV) - A group of people sprang into action to catch a young girl who slipped off a ski lift in Big Bear.This past weekend, video shot by Instagram user explosive_comics_art showed a 5-year-old girl dangling from a chairlift during an outing at Bear Mountain Ski Resort.Moments later, as the girl was coming dangerously close to falling off, being held by only her hoodie by a ski instructor, according to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, as she dangled above the ground.RELATED: San Diego native and wife caught in Squaw Valley avalancheA group of people below rush off and bring back a tarp to create a safety net for her to drop down to. (KGTV) — Border officials say 19 people were arrested after a panga boat was intercepted off the coast of Dana Point in Orange County on Friday.Crews say just before 1 a.m., U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials spotted a single-engine panga boat traveling out of Mexican waters with no lights and with multiple people on board. The boat was monitored moving north, until about 3:30 .m., when CBP officials directed San Diego units to the boat's location about 11 nautical miles west of Dana Point.Nineteen people, 18 adults males and one adult female who all claimed to be Mexican nationals, were taken into custody, CBP says. They were all turned over to Border Patrol for processing.“This interception exemplifies the unique air and sea coordination, vigilance and law enforcement capabilities of our highly skilled interdiction agents in keeping our coastal border safe,” Timothy Sutherland, with Marine Operations San Diego Air and Marine Branch, said. “The combination of expertise, technology and training were the key for the success of this operation.” 1076

(KGTV) — A Delaware school is apologizing after the infamous Rosanne Barr rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" recorded in San Diego was played before a recent high school football game.The Seaford School District said Wednesday they are unsure of how the recording was played before Seaford High School's Tuesday night football game, according to the News Journal of Wilmington.A letter from Superintendent David Perrington said the pregame proceedings with be improved and they are looking into the recent fumble.Students and families were shocked when Barr's version of the national anthem, recorded before a San Diego Padres game on July 25, 1990, blared over the intercom to usher in the game.Perrington's letter says the district usually plays the national anthem before games and will pay a district-approved version in the future.Need a reminder of how the infamous rendition played out? (KGTV) — Facebook told 10News Friday they are aware of a disturbing viral video showing abuse of a child and have removed it from the social media platform.In a Facebook post Sunday, a person is seen repeatedly slapping a child on the head with both hands throughout the 47-second video. The young child is seen screaming next to a bucket clutching a towel, as the person pummels the child with slaps.The video of the apparent abuse originated in South Africa, a Facebook spokesperson told 10News.
