Law enforcement officials from New York to Florida are examining clues to find the person or persons who sent 10 packages containing what appear to be explosive materials to prominent Democrats, critics of President Donald Trump, and to CNN's New York offices as authorities classify the incidents as domestic terrorism.Three new packages were detected Thursday -- two intended for former Vice President Joe Biden and one for actor-director Robert DeNiro -- each bearing the same markings as the seven packages detected earlier this week. The apparent bombs, while rudimentary in design, according to law enforcement officials, targeted two former US presidents, a former vice president and potential presidential contender, and numerous outspoken critics of the Trump administration.Investigators are reviewing security footage from the CNN building and examining the packages themselves for potential clues, according to current and former law enforcement officials."Everything is a clue," a law enforcement official said.As authorities examine clues, they are also finding more questions to answer.One key question authorities are puzzling over is why none of the apparent bombs detonated, a second law enforcement source said, raising questions about the skill and motive of the bombmaker.This person said either the bombmaker was good enough to ensure none would go off and never intended them to explode or it was poorly constructed. Authorities consider the bombs to be potentially destructive because of the presence of what is believed to be pyrotechnic powder. Though it appears they were handled through the postal system -- and thus jostled and moved -- without triggering any explosion.William Sweeney, FBI special agent in charge of the New York field office, said Thursday afternoon that the powder discovered with the package sent to CNN did not pose a biological threat but another official said it was undergoing testing.The FBI's counterterrorism team is leading the investigation and has classified it as a domestic terror matter, the law enforcement official said. That classification is based on the absence of other information and could change.The Secret Service, US Postal Inspector Service, and ATF are also working on the investigation with various state and federal offices. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Nearly 200 people turned out for a vigil in Lakeside honoring two teenagers killed in a car accident last weekend. Isaac Culkin and Justin Kyte were killed on Saturday, Jan. 11 when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree. Two others in the car suffered moderate injuries, but survived. Those closest to the boys gathered at the scene of the crash for a candlelight vigil, a moment of silence and prayer. The teens' closest friends remembered them as hardworking, funny boys who loved to have fun offroading the desert. CHP says Kyte was behind the wheel when he lost control of the car and hit a tree on Willow Road. Culkin was in the passenger seat. CHP says speed was a factor, but it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. Services for Culkin are scheduled Thursday, January 23rd. Information on Kyte's services have not been made public. LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KGTV) — A Riverside County man who tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a party warned others considering gatherings the day before he died.Thomas Macias attended a barbecue in June in Lake Elsinore, where he was exposed to another person who later said they knowingly had coronavirus but never told anyone, according to Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC.Shortly after the party, Macias started feeling sick and posted a warning to others on Facebook, his family told CNN."I went out a couple of weeks ago ... because of my stupidity I put my mom and sisters and my family's health in jeopardy," Macias wrote. "This has been a very painful experience. This is no joke. If you have to go out, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. ... Hopefully with God's help, I'll be able to survive this."Macias died the day after posting the warning. The 51-year-old suffered from diabetes, one of the underlying conditions health experts warn make some individuals especially vulnerable to COVID-19.A friend who was also at the party notified Macias that he had coronavirus and he was aware of the positive diagnosis when he attended the gathering. The friend thought he couldn't infect anyone because he had no symptoms, a family member told CNN.It wasn't clear if anyone was social distancing or wearing facial coverings at the party. About a dozen people who were at the party also tested positive, CNN reported.Macias was tested for COVID-19 on June 15, was told he tested positive on June 18, and died on June 21, KABC reports. 1563

(KGTV) -- "As young as I can remember my mom always helped out less fortunate people in the community, I remember delivering boxes of frozen hamburgers and roasts and things like that." Giving back are two simple words but for Linda Anderson, those words bring her back to childhood, and the memory of her late mother."We had a neighbor that was elderly and my mom would cook them meals and bring them over there, and she always had some little old lady in town that she would bring to their doctor's appointments. She'd bring them food, take them grocery shopping and clean their house," Linda recalled.But as Linda's mother got older, she was no longer on the giving, but on the receiving end. She received food and other essentials from Meals on Wheels, a nationwide organization that helped seniors living along, who are trying to do things on their own."They really made a big difference between her able to live at home independently, than being placed in a care facility," said Erica Peterson, Linda's friend.When Linda's mother passed, they wanted to honor her in a way that would make her smile, even from above. They created over a thousand gift bags with toiletries, office supplies and other goodies thanks to donations that were made in her honor."I think it'd mean a lot to her, I think it'd make her feel very loved and appreciated," said Linda. She added they were helping an organization that helped others, just like her mother did."They really need a lot of help especially during pandemic. They've had a lot of issues and they haven't seen a lot of donations they regularly have. I hope it puts a smile on their face. I know when my mom got a visitor and got a gift it always put a smile on her face. I think that's what we're trying to do, pay it forward and put a little bright spot in someones life." 1849
