CLEVELAND — After the team announced it will be changing its name, Cleveland Indians owner Paul Dolan sent a letter to fans addressing the decision.Dolan said that as a fifth-generation Clevelander, he understands the impact and importance of the decision to change the name. He said while many fans may be upset that the team they grew up with will soon have a different name, the most important part of the team isn’t changing."Like many of you, I grew up with this name and have many great memories of past Indians teams: the World Series appearances, Cy Young winners, the longest win streak in MLB history, and countless other unforgettable moments that brought our team, fans, and community together,” Dolan wrote. “These memories will forever stay in our hearts, minds, and record books, and we will continue to recognize our ball club’s remarkable legacy. While I have often associated these unforgettable memories with the name Indians, I sincerely believe Cleveland is the most important part of our team name.”Dolan credited the team’s progressive history and said the decision to change the name only helps keep up with the organization’s high standard.“Ultimately, we found our organization is at its best when we can unify our community and bring people together around our shared interest in our home team – and we believe a new name will allow us to do this more fully,” Dolan wrote. “We often celebrate being the first team in the American League to have an African American player in Larry Doby and the first African American manager in Frank Robinson. CODY, Wyo. – During an interview with Forbes, Kanye West elaborated on his decision to run for president of the United States and made several more head scratching comments.Over the course of four “rambling” hours of interviews, the magazine says the rapper confirmed that he was serious when he tweeted Saturday that he would pursue the White House.West disclosed that he would be running under a new political party, the “Birthday Party.” He reportedly said, “because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.” He said his campaign slogan is “YES!” and he’s already chosen his running mate – an obscure Wyoming preacher named Michelle Tidball.In the past, West has voiced his support of President Donald Trump, who has been seeking reelection since he took office in 2017. However, West told Forbes that he no longer supports Trump and that he was “taking the red hat off” with the interview.With West apparently entering the presidential race, many Democrats are concerned he could spoil former Vice President Joe Biden’s prospects of winning. West is OK with that and isn’t shy about it, calling Biden “not special,” like him, former President Barack Obama and Trump.West went on to say that it’s “a form of racism and white supremacy and white control to say that all Black people need to be Democrat and to assume that me running is me splitting the vote.”Another revelation – West told the magazine that he was sick with COVID-19 in February. (KGTV) - Two political opponents running against each other for the Coronado City Council have formed a special bond which they refuse to let be ruined by the campaign."She's my opponent, but I love my opponent. She's like a mother to me," says candidate Derik Mundt about fellow candidate Mary Sikes.The two have been friendly since Mundt was a teenager volunteering for the Coronado Film Festival, which Sikes ran until her retirement this year. However, they did not realize when they decided to run that they would be doing so against the other."She's a saint," Mundt said. "When you're sick, she brings you soup. That's what she does. She's like the mom of Coronado."Mundt recently found out how true those sentiments were. Last week he began feeling sick, with a fever topping 102. It turned out to be a case of the flu so bad, he was taken to the emergency room. Mundt ended up hospitalized for five days. One of his first calls was to Sikes."My first thought was just to get there and just be there," Sikes said.Sikes visited Mundt in the hospital each day and stayed in touch with his mother to update her on his status. When it became clear he would not be released in time for the final candidate forum in the race, Sikes made a surprising offer."You've come this far and it's so close," she told Mundt. "I'll give your speech tomorrow because I know it by heart."When Mundt was finally released from the hospital Monday afternoon, it was Sikes who came to pick him up and drive him home."Dirty politics don't belong in politics," Mundt says. CORTEZ HILL (KGTV) - A woman's body was found in the courtyard of an apartment building in Cortez Hill, near Little Italy.Police were called around 3:30 p.m. to the Atmosphere apartment complex on 1453 Fourth Avenue.San Diego Police and San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel arrived a few minutes later. The 42-year-old woman had traumatic injuries to her body, and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.Police say the woman may have jumped from the 8th floor, but the homicide unit was called to the scene out of caution.Neighbors say they've seen police at the complex often, "most people say that this is just domestic violence dispute or something like that I’ve never actually seen anybody arrested, I have seen an ambulance here and people hauled away in the ambulance," neighbor Tom Hochrein said.He's lived in San Diego for 19 years and just moved to this neighborhood last year, "this area seems a little shaky here."Neighbors were concerned this time something severe happened, "someone must’ve said something about homicide or somebody you know jumped out the window or was pushed out I don’t know," Hochrein said.A woman who lives in the building said she feared for the safety of her family, especially her 18 month old son. She said the police knocked on her door and questioned her and her husband about whether they heard anything an hour prior.When she went downstairs, she found police tape across an elevator and parts of the floor where police were still investigating, "I'm scared, I have a family. I feel okay that the police are here but I really hope they find the suspect soon," she said.The sidewalk was closed for about 3 hours, while the investigation took place. COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - After seven long months of dealing with the pandemic, it's easy to assume that the general population is growing tired of COVID-19. The mental strain has been non-stop and now seasonal depression is expected to add to those stresses."There is one word that I would say now, it is fatigue,” said Douglas County Health Director Adi Pour about how people are feeling regarding the pandemic. “There is no question, the public is fatigued."Mental health experts worry that seasonal depression will only add to the already prevalent pandemic-related stresses."It just multiplies it, it stacks,” said CHI Health Mental Health Therapist Tim Hron.Seasonal depression, or Seasonal Affective Disorder, has to do with changes in serotonin levels in the colder months, directly affecting your mood. It's a condition that affects about five percent of adults in the U.S. and typically lasts about 40 percent of the year."It can present itself with fatigue, depressed mood, some of those other typical symptoms of depression but just more in that seasonal time frame," said Hron.Hron also says it's important to reach out for help if your symptoms last longer than two weeks.
