A Florida woman is facing attempted murder charges after police say she told her four children to unbuckle their seat belts and then purposefully drove a minivan into a tree yesterday.Calicia Williams and the children, who are between 7 and 13 years old, were all injured in the crash, Ocala police said in a release.Williams was speeding and told the children to take off their seat belts and stretch out their hands before the crash, according to the release."The devil can't hurt you, he only hurts bad people," Williams said just before the crash, according to the police report, which cited a witness whose name was redacted. "You have the light of Jesus in you and only Jesus can cure us," according to the police report.Williams was standing outside of the van when police arrived. From social distancing markers on the floor to hand sanitizer at the door ,this is the new norm for hotels operating during a pandemic. “It’s been very difficult in hospitality with COVID-19,” said Sarah Treadway, president and co-CEO of Stout Street Hospitality and Magnolia Hotels, a hospitality company with hotels across the country which had to lay off 95% of its employees during the COVID-19 crisis. “Many of our employees have worked for us for more than 30 years,” Treadway said. “So, it’s been devastating.” It’s devastating both emotionally and financially as coronavirus concerns have closed down thousands of hotels around the world. “A lot of people are feeling a lot of pain,” said Chip Rogers, president and CEO of the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Rogers says about two thirds of all hotels have laid off at least half of their workers. He added that many hotels that closed due to COVID-19 might never reopen. “In fact, the experts say the industry will not fully recover until 2023,” Rogers said. To hopefully help expedite that timeline, industry leaders are now focusing on ne-w safety standards. A "partial equipment failure" involving a jet bridge at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in Maryland on Saturday left six people injured.The airport tweeted that the six people were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The jet bridge, an extendable hallway stretching from the terminal to the plane, was at Gate E-10 for Southwest Airlines Flight 822, according to the airline.Southwest Airlines said the flight arrived at BWI from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with a request for paramedics to meet it to check out a passenger's "onboard medical situation." A babysitter is behind bars in New Mexico after allegedly leaving a 2-year-old girl in a hot car for several hours last week. The toddler, Zariah Hasheme, was pronounced dead when officers with the Hobbs Police Department responded to the scene in the 1800 block of N. Turner at about 1:27 p.m. on Sept. 17. Investigators say the child was left in the care of 41-year-old Tammie Brooks at about 6:30 that morning and she was supposed to drop the girl off at day care. However, police say Brooks drove to her place of employment instead and only realized the child was still in the car after running an errand, hours later.
