BALTIMORE (KGTV) - A former television producer for “The Jerry Springer Show” was arrested in Maryland Thursday for the death of her sister in Los Angeles.Baltimore Police took Jill Blackstone into custody on suspicion of murder and animal cruelty at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Police did not reveal if Blackstone was a patient.According to Los Angeles Police, Blackstone put her sister Wendy, 49, and two dogs in a garage in Los Angeles and set the building on fire in March 2015. LAPD investigators said Blackstone wanted to make Wendy’s death look like an accident.Blackstone was motivated by the emotional and financial hardship of taking care of her sister, who was deaf and partially blind, investigators said.Baltimore Police said Blackstone will be sent back to Los Angeles to face charges.Blackstone worked as a producer on programs including “Family Court with Judge Penny”, the Daily News reported.The Associated Press contributed to this report. 962

(AP) — An egg has been laid in a nest shared by two bald eagles in Southern California and nature lovers will anxiously watch for the hatching via an online live feed .U.S. Forest Service biologist Robin Eliason said Wednesday that the parents will share incubation duties for the next month or so. Eliason expects the hatchling will arrive in early April.The video feed shows an eagle nestling on the egg Thursday as strong, cold winds blow through the San Bernardino National Forest. A count completed late last year found 11 bald eagles living in the forest east of Los Angeles.The Institute for Wildlife Studies web page has thousands of comments from people watching the feed. BROWN COUNTY, Ind. -- More than 100 birds were removed from a Brown County, Indiana home Wednesday morning after a months-long investigation into a potential cockfighting ring. The Indiana Gaming Commission assisted in serving two search warrants. The investigation has been going on since October 2017 after detectives were given a "derby sheet" that listed the entire cockfighting season with dates, registration fees and potential payouts, a spokesperson from the Indiana Gaming Commission said. The birds were seized by the ASPCA. Three people have been taken into custody and booked into the Brown County Jail.Mark Herrin, Darina Herrin, and Randall Herrin all face felony charges of purchasing an animal for use in an animal fighting contest and promoting an animal fighting contest. Law enforcement in Kentucky is also involved in the investigation. 899

(AP) — A Wisconsin apartment building where a fatal explosion took place was deliberately burned by firefighters Thursday.Authorities set fire to the building in Beaver Dam to burn chemicals that could not be removed because of their volatility. Those who lived in the building had not been allowed to return to retrieve any belongings or keepsakes because of the danger of another explosion.About 20 area fire departments with at least 100 firefighters assisted with the controlled burn.28-year-old Benjamin Morrow, who lived in one of the units, was killed in last week's explosion. Police believe he was making bombs when chemicals accidentally detonated. A funeral service for Morrow will be held Thursday in Madison. 751

He died on July 11.Less than two dozen animals across the country have tested positive for COVID-19, according to public health records.One of Buddy's owners was also sick with coronavirus, according to the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.Buddy was expected to recover, but he also likely had lymphoma, National Geographic reported.
