But beyond that, the murals can be great for a neighborhood and its businesses.Tracy Weil is midway through his latest project: a 125-foot long mural in Denver’s River North Arts District.Murals like Weil’s do more for a neighborhood than add a splash of color to an otherwise dull brick wall."It can really kind of give an identity to a neighborhood, which I think is pretty fantastic,” says Weil. “If there’s not a lot of people there, not a lot of restaurants, what the murals do is they start to draw people. And they start to draw business."That’s exactly why the events center and nightclub behind the freshly-painted wall hires artists like Weil."I think it’s a great way to bring attention, to not just your specific business maybe, but to a neighborhood, to a region," says Andrew Feinstein, owner of EXDO Events Center and Tracks nightclub. “Regardless of what murals cost, it’s absolutely the right investment."And it’s an investment that's paying off, particularly when it comes to presence on social media. WESTLAKE, La. -- A fire broke out at a chemical plant in Westlake, Louisiana, as Hurricane Laura moved out of the state. Louisiana State Police responded to the scene Thursday and motorists were being advised not to travel on I-10 through Westlake as crews fought to put out the flames.State police say the fire involved a chlorine leak that originated from a BioLab chemical manufacturing facility.The BioLab plant was built in 1979 and manufactures trichloroisocyanuric acid, chlorinating granules and other chemicals used in such household cleaners as Comet bleach scrub and pool chlorine powder, The Associated Press reports. Trichloroisocyanuric acid and chlorine are potentially acutely toxic to people and animals if ingested or inhaled.As a result of the fire, residents in the Westlake, Moss Bluff and Sulphur area were advised to shelter in place until further notice, close their doors and windows, and turn off their air conditioning units.In a statement obtained by KATC, KIK Custom Products said the fire at their facility was the result of damage from the hurricane and a specialized team has been deployed to mitigate the impact of the incident. 1171

When it comes to scaring us, Hollywood sure likes to have fun with spiders. But it's no fun when you have a real fear of them. So it's no surprise when it came time to see one in person, Cassandra Kidd was a bit nervous.  "Oh God I'm scared!" Kidd exclaimed.   She mustered up her strength to hold Rosie the tarantula. And after just a few seconds the fear was gone.  "It felt kind of like a ladybug but more gentle," Kidd says.    Kathleen Lewis peered over the wall as her grandson held Rosie.  "No I'm not as brave as my four-year-old grandson," Lewis says.  Fear kept her from holding the spider herself.  "Too many legs moving," Lewis says.When it comes to overcoming fears like Arachnophobia experts say educating yourself in an environment where you feel safe can make all the difference. The Spider Pavilion at Butterfly Pavilion is an example. Arachnids of all sizes hang out above.  A belief that spiders want to jump down on you is one of many misconceptions Mary Ann Colley, Vice President of Science and Conservation at Butterfly Pavilion, has heard about spiders.  "People are always saying, 'Oh, I am going to eat spiders in my sleep,'" Colley says. "That's not true."Another? The idea they want to bite you."Spiders really don't want to have anything to do with us," Colley says. "They want to do their own thing, they want to hunt for their food, create their webs."  Colley says only a small amount of spiders have a level of toxicity to actually hurt us. Butterfly Pavilion hopes sharing facts can help overcome fear."We want to be respectful of nature around us," Colley says.
