SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Six robbery suspects were arrested after reportedly assaulting a 14-year-old over a cell phone and leading police on a pursuit late Friday.A 14-year-old boy was walking in the 4400 block of Newport Avenue in Point Loma Heights when a Toyota Rav4 pulled alongside him just before 9:30 p.m., according to San Diego Police.Three suspects, one of whom was armed, got out and demanded the victim's cell phone at gunpoint, police said, before the armed suspect hit the boy over the head with the gun. The suspects then fled the area with the boy's cell phone.Police located the Toyota and tried to pull the vehicle over, prompting the suspects to lead police on a pursuit into the Lincoln Park area. Four juvenile and two adult suspects jumped out of the vehicle at Willie James Jones Ave. and tried to run but were all taken into custody after short foot pursuits, police said. 899

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Students at three Vista Unified School District secondary schools are pivoting to virtual learning on Thursday.The district confirmed Vista High School, as well as Roosevelt and VIDA middle schools, are making the switch after a positive COVID-19 case at each school.According to rules the district's School Board adopted in late October, if one school has two or more positive cases, the whole school will shift to virtual learning for 14 days. If three secondary schools see one case each, the schools would have to do the same -- which is what happened in this case of Vista High, and Roosevelt and VIDA middle schools.The schools are expected to return to in-person learning on Dec. 1, according to the district website.Three other Vista Unified schools -- Rancho Buena Vista High School, Madison Middle School, and Vista Magnet School -- also went back to virtua

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Saturday, Dec. 8 will be the tenth year since a tragedy in the heart of University City.Four people died in 2008 when an FA-18 military jet crashed into homes in the San Diego community west of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.Rebecca Cosford was in her home and heard two loud noises. The first was the pilot blowing out the plane’s canopy and ejecting. The second sound was the crash.“One was popping, then a massive explosion that shook the whole house,” Cosford remembers.Cosford and her husband ran outside to see a “large column of smoke”.Teresa Rizzo not only heard it: she felt it. Someone yelled at her to stay back and told her a plane had crashed."I just thought, 'That was an airplane?’ That was an actual airplane that fell out of the sky and exploded around the corner from my house?"Marine pilot Dan Neubauer’s parachute landed a block west of the crash site after he ejected. He had been trying to reach MCAS Miramar on one engine, but his second engine failed. The FA-18 dropped like a stone.The four lives lost on the ground were Dong Yoon’s family."I believe my wife and two babies and my mother-in-law are in heaven with God," Yoon said after the crash.Neighbors had tried to help when disaster struck. And it's even more evident when looking at a new ranking from the Brewers Association.The non-profit trade group that represents small and craft breweries recently released its annual list of top brewers in the U.S., based on beer sales. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's newly renamed Museum of Us will reopen to visitors this week.The museum, formerly called the Museum of Man, will reopen on Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. under the state's new guidelines for museums during the coronavirus pandemic.The Museum of Us will operate at 25% capacity when it reopens and all guests will be required to wear a face covering. Other measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 include:Plexiglass is in place at the admission desk to minimize contact.Guests are required to keep 6 feet of distance between other visitors.Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the museum.Guests will be given a personal pencil to use throughout interactive exhibits.Guests will be provided a suggested linear path of travel to promote social distancing.Handrails and other surfaces throughout the museum are frequently sanitized for your safety.The museum is encouraging guests to also purchase their tickets ahead of time online or by using debit or credit cars. Cash will still be accepted if needed. Tickets can be purchased online for general admission or for students with school ID, military with active ID, seniors 62 and older, and youth 6-17.
