BUDAPEST, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai has expressed optimism in having a better future in ties with China upon the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.     Bajnai described China as a reliable international partner in a recent interview with Xinhua, saying that Hungary was one of the first to establish diplomatic ties with the fledgling country.     Having visited China in November 2008, he said he has been deeply impressed with the country's dynamic development.     "The high-standard professional exchange of views with Chinese negotiation partners in the central and local governments and withbusiness leaders have already yielded concrete results in the Hungarian-Chinese economic relations, to the benefit of both countries," said the prime minister.     He welcomed the forthcoming visit of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, saying the visit will offer an opportunity for the two sides to talk about "further significant advances in bilateral economic cooperation."     The past decade has witnessed a 17-fold rise in trade between Hungary and China, he said, adding that there had also been extensive growth in their cultural, educational, scientific and tourism cooperation.     Noting that China is one of Hungary's most significant Asian trade partners and Hungary one of China's most prominent in central and eastern Europe, Bajnai said further improvement of the relations with China has been a priority of the Hungarian foreign policy.     "Mutual investment and technological cooperation are important not only because they are profitable for businesses of both countries, but also because in hard economic times they create jobs, " he said.     He noted that China has been doing a splendid job in facing up to the challenges of the world economic depression. BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Fifty-two types of new weapon systems developed with China's own technologies, including airborne early warning and control (AEWC) aircraft, will be showcased at the military parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.     Further cutting-edge weaponry would include sophisticated radar, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and satellite communication devices of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), Lieutenant General Fang Fenghui, general director of the parade, told Xinhua Wednesday.     The Oct. 1 parade would also show personnel and equipment from the navy, air force and China's ballistic missile corps, Fang said.     Fang did not identify the specific models of the weapon systems but said all of the weapons are tagged: "Made in China".     "They (the weapon systems) embody the ongoing transformation of the PLA from a labor-intensive force to technology-intensive might be capable of joint operations in modern warfare," said Fang, who is also commander of the PLA's Beijing Military Area Command.     "The weapon systems to be shown in the parade also showcase the ability of the PLA to carry out diverse military missions," he said.     There will be 56 regiments on the ground and in the air during the parade, symbolizing the country's 56 ethnic groups marching along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics in solidarity, Fang said.     Fourteen of the regiments will march through Chang'an Avenue on foot, 30 in wheeled transport and 12 will take to the air.     All the troops in the parade will be dressed in PLA 07-type uniforms and most of them are from generations born in the 1980s and 1990s.     Compared with the previous military parade on National Day 10 years ago, this one would have less troops and equipment but increased high-tech weaponry and special force units, Fang said.

NANJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called on authorities at various levels to step up patriotic education in the run-up to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.     Liu, also a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks during a recent inspection tour in the eastern province of Jiangsu.     Liu said patriotic education should serve the development and stability of China's reform, and should be included in the process of tackling the global financial crisis, and maintaining the country's steady and relatively fast economic development.     He urged the authorities to incorporate patriotic education into the daily life of the Chinese people, to "turn their love for the country into concrete actions."     Patriotic education should focus on China's youths and teenagers, Liu said, adding that the development of "red tourism", which mainly consists of visiting sites related to the history of the CPC and its armed forces, should also be highlighted.

ISTANBUL, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- China on Sunday demanded an increase of the quota share of the emerging markets and developing countries in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and urged the organization to accelerate its structural reform. Chinese Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Yi Gang made the remarks at the 20th meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee of the Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund in Istanbul.     The one-day meeting was attended by representatives from 186 member countries and international financial institutions, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization and other organizations.     The Chinese deputy governor criticized major international financial institution for failing to give a timely early warning report of the current global financial crisis, noting that the failure is closely related to deviation of the surveillance direction and its focus.     The long-time underestimation of the quota share of the emerging markets and developing countries and their insufficient representation in the IMF are major causes for irrational governing structure, unfair surveillance and untimely early warning system, he said. Attendees take part in the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meeting at the Istanbul Congress Center October 4, 2009. The IMFC has 24 members who advise and report to the IMF Board of Governors. Finance ministers and central bankers from around the globe are in Istanbul for the semiannual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, which run from Oct. 4-7.    He said China supports an increase of IMF structural resources in various ways.     But he stressed that the quota share is the main resource of the IMF organization, urging the IMF to establish quota share automatic readjusting mechanism in a bid to reflect changes of economic positions of different countries.     China supports the IMF to undergo wide-ranging administrative structural reform, including the strengthening of responsibilities of the executive board of directors, effective supervision of the administration, reform of chairman election system and increasing the proportion of administrative and working staff of emerging markets and developing countries, he added.     Yi stressed that the IMF should strengthen supervision and surveillance over various major financial markets, synthetically think about various policies of member countries, and not to assess single policy in a simple and mechanical way.     He said China welcomes the progress made by the IMF in enhancing early warning capability, the whole package reform in financing mechanism to offer loan to low-income countries and preferential financing measures.     Istanbul is to host the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank on Oct. 6-7.
