GOP officials across the US are standing up for facts regarding the election — @Commish_Schmidt in PA and @GaSecofState and a handful of others — but they are few and far between and under attack from other Republicans. Google said Monday it is shutting down the long ailing social network Google+ for consumer use amid new scrutiny of the company for reportedly failing to publicly disclose a security bug affecting users of the service. In a blog post, the company admitted Google+ had failed to achieve "broad consumer or developer adoption" since it launched as a would-be Facebook rival in 2011. However, the announcement came moments after The Wall Street Journal reported Google had opted not to disclose a bug affecting hundreds of thousands of Google+ users at least in part to avoid additional regulatory scrutiny.Google said in the blog post that it "discovered and immediately patched" a bug in March 2018. It said the bug could have affected up to 500,000 Google+ accounts, but the company found "no evidence" that any data was actually misused."Every year, we send millions of notifications to users about privacy and security bugs and issues," a spokesperson for Google said in a statement provided to CNN Business. "Whenever user data may have been affected, we go beyond our legal requirements and apply several criteria focused on our users in determining whether to provide notice. This is a developing story. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer went to Delaware to meet with Joe Biden as he neared the announcement of his vice presidential choice, two high-ranking Michigan Democrats tell The Associated Press. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, say Whitmer visited Biden last Sunday. It's his first confirmed in-person meeting with a potential pick. Whitmer, the first-term governor of a battleground state, has long been on his short list of possible running mates. Flight records show a chartered flight left Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport for Delaware Coastal Airport at 5:33 p.m. and returned at 11:16 p.m. 633

From Parkland to Pittsburgh, we all realize that these days a mass shooting can happen anywhere, at any time.If a shooter walked into your workplace, whether an office building, a school or a movie theater, would you know how to survive? They're words too many people have heard: "We have an active shooter. Stand by for further information."Jim Hardman is a Desert Storm US Army veteran and a former police officer who teaches survival classes. In an active shooting, he says everyone should know three keywords: run, hide, fight.First: Run.Hardman says wherever you are, always know where the exit is."I walk into a store or a new business," he said, "and ask myself where can I get out?"Hear gunshots? Hardman says run if you can, without running into gunfire."If I decide to run, I move with a purpose," he said. "I'm not just running through the center or a room to try to get away."Second: Hide.Hardman says to look for a spot that might stop bullets."I position myself to where I've got that filing cabinet, that copier, something that's heavy."Hardman says never try to reason with someone already shooting. Statistics show you cannot stop him at that point."Once that active killing starts, that rationalization is out the door."Obviously, your best bet is to escape. But if you can't get out, Hardman says the next thing to do is to start barricading the room you're in, putting heavy everything at the door to keep the shooter out."I might just grab an entire desk assembly, slide it over in front of the door, " he said. 1553
