SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – An atmospheric river is set to bring widespread showers -- which could lead to flooding -- to San Diego County the next week.Rain is expected to come down Monday afternoon and finally taper off Thursday, with the most widespread and heavy rainfall coming Tuesday.Initial forecasts show rain totaling 1 to 3 inches for most areas of San Diego, with up to 5 inches of snow in some mountain locations, according to 10News weather anchor Vanessa Paz.WEATHER: 10News' updated forecast for San Diego CountyAccording to the National Weather Service, localized flooding will be possible Tuesday and typically dry desert areas will see significant flow. Thunderstorms will also be possible in some areas.Heavy showers are expected to continue Wednesday morning, with more roadway and local flooding possible, NWS reported.Thursday, if showers continue, flooding could continue to be an issue. Though, currently showers are expected to ease. Showers are expected to move out of the county by Friday.The showers are expected to help San Diego's reservoirs for the rest of the year. Currently, much of California is either "abnormally dry" or in a "moderate drought." San Diego is currently not experiencing any drought conditions, according to the state's drought monitor.As of Feb. 11, San Diego's reservoirs are between 23 to as much as 88 percent full, according to the city.LIVE RADAR: Weather conditions in your neighborhoodAn atmospheric river is a column of condensed water vapor in the atmosphere that are capable of producing high levels of rain and snow, the NWS says. About 30 - 50 percent of California's annual rainfall occurs in just a few atmospheric rivers, according to NWS. 1917

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An Escondido man who pleaded guilty to firing several rounds into the air in a crowded area when he couldn't get tickets to an Ice Cube concert was sentenced to three years behind bars Wednesday. Daniel Elizarraras, 22, pleaded guilty to discharging a gun at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in early September of 2018. Authorities say Elizarraras raised the gun before shooting into the air while he was in a large crowd near the ticket booth. Elizarraras was shot three times in the torso and once in the arm after he pointed the gun at a deputy. RELATED: Man admits he opened fire before Ice Cube concert at Del Mar FairgroundsElizarraras was facing up to 19 years behind bars, but a charge of assault on a peace officer with a semi-automatic weapon was dismissed as part of his plea. Defense Attorney Pedro Bernal said Elizarraras was severely depressed and trying to kill himself by suicide by cop. They asked for a lower sentence.However, the prosecution said he acted violently, causing chaos, and the situation could have been much worse.Judge Kathleen Lewis agreed saying, "I think it’s amazing that no one was injured or killed in this circumstance.”Before the shooting, officials said the venue was at capacity and began turning people away from the horse races and concert. Fights erupted between security guards and would-be concert-goers who were upset that they wouldn’t be allowed into the show. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An Ocean Beach man was injured after two men stormed his home, beat him, and robbed him.Police say the 34-year-old victim was at his home on Cape May Ave. with a woman, possibly an ex-girlfriend, when there was a knock at the door at about 10 p.m.The woman answered the door and two men forced their way inside, one wielding an expandable baton and the other with a knife, police said.A struggle began between the victim and two suspects and the two men beat the victim several times, before ordering him to open a safe.After the suspect was unable to open the safe, the suspects rummaged through the home and stole several items, including credit cards. The two men then fled.The woman fled shortly after as well.The victim was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.Police described the suspect with a baton as a 20- to 25-year-old white male, 5-foot 10-inches, with thin build. He was wearing dark clothing and may have had his face painted black, police added. The man with the knife was described as a 25- to 30-year-old Hispanic man, 6-feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds, and wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A thief struck an ugly chord with residents in a Del Cerro neighborhood, after zeroing in on a porch and warming up his pipes.    Just off College Avenue, Katherine - who asked us not to reveal her full name - says the first feeling was confusion when she and her husband returned home from Julian on Saturday night.  On their porch, the couple says they found an opened letter addressed to a man in El Cajon. When they looked at the surveillance video, they saw him:  a casually dressed man pulls up in a pickup truck.            "He is holding the letter so he has a plan, a story if anybody stops him," said Katherine.On the video, the man heads right for the package at the front door and swipes it.  He throws the package in the truck, tosses the letter and as gets back into the truck, he appears to belt out a note.  As he backs out of the driveway, he keeps on singing."The singing clearly shows he's completely comfortable, really cocky...just going to his next gig.  I think it's his weekend job," said Katherine.Katherine can't help but smile about the likely sour note he experienced once he looked inside and found - a dog brush and mug.  Now she's hoping the video will lead to an arrest."He's clearly done this before.  No doubt he's out doing this again," said Katherine. 1414

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - All month long recreational vehicle owners staying at the Dreams for Change safe parking lot have been desperate to find a new place to stay. They were given 30-day notices to leave the site by the end of July. Dreams for Change leadership says it was always their intention to shift clients to the City's new safe parking lot, located near SDCCU stadium. However, the new safe parking lot has gone mostly unused. RV owners are required to move their vehicles during the day, which can be a barrier for some.CEO of Dreams for Change, Teresa Smith, says they've now come up with a temporary solution. RV owners will be allowed to leave their vehicles on the property, but they will have to go during the day.The nonprofit must balance serving their clients while also abiding by permitting and zoning rules. They are working to treat RVs the same way cars are treated in the program.Smith says the ultimate goal is to transition clients into permanent housing, who receive assistance from a caseworker. According to the Dreams for Change website, 2,650 people have been served through the program since 2009, and 65% of participants find housing or long-term transitional housing within three months of coming into contact with the nonprofit. 1268
