Vernon Jones outlined why he supports Trump, and turned his back on his own party.“The Democratic Party does not want Black people to leave the mental Plantation they've had us on for decades,” Jones said. “But I have news for them: We are free people with free minds. I am part of a large and growing segment of the Black community who are independent thinkers. And we believe that Donald Trump is the President that America needs to lead us forward.”Jones hit both Biden and former President Barack Obama for failing to address prison reform, an issue that Trump garnered bipartisan support.“He delivered historic criminal justice reform,” Jones said. “He ended -- once and for all -- the policy of mass incarceration of Black people, which has decimated our communities."While Jones was the only notable Democrat to speak on Trump’s behalf on Monday, Biden garnered the support of a number of Republicans who spoke on Night 1 of the Democratic National Convention. Update, 12:19 p.m.: Police say Caballero-Jimenez was found safe.SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police are asking for the public's help Thursday to find a 29-year-old man who went missing in Chula Vista.Pedro Caballero-Jimenez, who suffers from depression and epilepsy, was seen on Sunday crossing into the U.S. from Mexico at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to the San Diego Police Department. He took a taxi cab to Chula Vista and has not been seen since.Police did not disclose an approximate time or location where he was last seen.Caballero-Jimenez is Hispanic, 6 feel tall and about 230 pounds. VALLEY CENTER (CNS) - A person was killed Tuesday evening in a head-on car crash in Valley Center, a small town east of Oceanside.A car apparently being driven the wrong way hit another vehicle head- on about 7 p.m. near Valley Center Road and Waaash Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.Fire crews were called to the scene to rescue a person trapped in one of the vehicles, according to the CHP.
