After spending 602 days in the shelter before finally being adopted, Patches, an American bulldog, was returned to the Ashtabula County (Ohio) Animal Protective League Thursday. The American bulldog spent more than a year and a half at the shelter and required a very specific household. Ashtabula County APL thought that Patches had found the perfect fit when he was adopted in September, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. Due to his extended time in a shelter, Patches does not do well with other animals. The shelter previously thought he would do well in a home with no male dogs or children, but have learned now that he doesn’t do well with any other animals or children. Ashtabula County APL said that Patches needs an owner with patience that is willing to work with him as he adjusts to life in a home after spending such a long time in a shelter. With the holiday season upon us, the shelter said there is no better time for a miracle and they hope it comes in the form of finding the perfect home for Patches. To learn more about adopting Patches, call 440-224-1222 or email 1103

A rocket ship designed and built by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company has lifted off with two Americans on a history-making flight to the International Space Station. The spacecraft took off Saturday afternoon from the same launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida, that was used during the Apollo missions to the moon a half-century ago. It’s the first time a private company is launching NASA astronauts to space and the first time in nine years that American astronauts are departing from U.S. soil.Since the end of the space shuttle program in 2011, NASA astronauts have been hitching rides to the International Space Station onboard Russian Soyuz rockets launched from Kazakhstan. The astronauts undertaking this mission are Robert Behnken and Doug Hurley. The pair is expected to spend at least a month – and possibly as long as four months – on the International Space Station. If you missed the launch, you can watch it in the video above. After NASA declared Saturday's launch a success, President Donald Trump delivered a speech from the Kennedy Space Center, saying the launch proved that the "commercial space industry was the future" of space exploration."We'll be landing on Mars soon, and we'll soon have the greatest weapons the world has ever seen," Trump said. 1277

Abortion services can continue for now in Missouri after a judge ruled against the state, which had refused to renew Planned Parenthood's license to continue providing the procedure. The matter will be heard in court again on June 4.If the clinic had to stop providing abortion services, Missouri would have been the first state in the nation to block the procedure in more than 45 years.A lawsuit against the state was filed earlier this week by Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, which has provided abortions for more than two decades and is the last remaining clinic to do so in Missouri. Its license to continue offering abortions was set to expire Friday, and the organization argued that withholding the license amounted to another tactic in a years-long effort to "restrict abortion access and deny Missourians their right to choose abortion."The lawsuit was brought against Missouri Gov. Michael Parson and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, which administers the license the clinic needed. It sought a temporary restraining order against the state, in order to avoid the disruption of services."This is not a drill. This is not a warning. This is a real public health crisis," Dr. Leana Wen, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said Tuesday in 1353
