SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who jumped onstage during a Taylor Swift concert at Petco Park in 2015 and was tackled by members of her security team -- seriously injuring one of them -- is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday for allegedly beating a man to death in the Midway District earlier this month. Christian Ewing, 29, was arrested last Friday for a parole violation and was re-arrested Monday on suspicion of murder in the death of 57-year-old Gregory Freeman. Freeman was found Dec. 5 in the 3900 block of Rosecrans Street near the Interstate 5 overpass, police said. Freeman, who had trauma to his upper body, was taken to a hospital but died four days later. One witness told police that Freeman was on the ground when a man began to hit him with some sort of object. The attacker then fled, said San Diego police Lt. Anthony Dupree. More than three years ago, Ewing sneaked into Swift's concert and jumped onstage while she was performing. He was tackled by security guards, one of whom suffered a broken rib. Ewing pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to probation and given credit for three years in custody. 1130

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Home prices rose 2.5 percent in San Diego County in January, compared to the same month a year ago, while home sales dropped by 19.4 percent, a real estate information service announced Wednesday.According to CoreLogic, the median price of a San Diego County home was 2,000 last month, up from 9,000 in January 2018. A total of 2,115 homes were sold in the county, down from 2,625 during the same month the previous year.A total of 12,665 new and resale houses and condos changed hands in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties last month, according to CoreLogic. That was down 19.8 percent from 15,794 in December, and down 17.1 percent from 15,280 in January 2018.READ: San Diego among top hot housing markets for 2019, Zillow reportsThe median price of a Southern California home was 5,000 in January, down 1.9 percent from 5,000 in December and up 2 percent from 5,000 in January.``January marked the second consecutive month in which Southern California home sales were the lowest for that month in 11 years, since the early days of the housing bust,'' said Andrew LePage, research analyst with CoreLogic. ``Many of the details recorded last month reflect purchasing decisions made during the holidays, from Thanksgiving 2018 through early in the new year.READ: San Diego metro sees increase in married couples living with roommates, Trulia says``Buyer enthusiasm during this period was dampened by a variety of forces including affordability constraints, stock market volatility, concerns home prices might have peaked and uncertainty triggered by the partial federal government shutdown that began on Dec. 22, 2018. However, this January's slowdown was likely tempered by a significant drop in mortgage rates that began in December, improving affordability at a time when inventory was up year over year.'' 1894

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who fatally stabbed his 66-year-old uncle during an argument in their Pacific Beach condominium was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in state prison.Randy Bautista Baisa, 39, pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge in connection with the 2018, killing of Merlino Bautista. Authorities said the defendant and the victim lived together.Prosecutors said Baisa -- who has significant mental health issues, according to the prosecution and defense -- stabbed his uncle 16 times, mostly in the back. One stab wound to the left arm severed an artery, the prosecutor said.Baisa previously pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but withdrew that plea in May.RELATED: Nephew arrested, accused of stabbing uncle to death in Pacific Beach apartment complexA neighbor at The Plaza Condominiums complex on Diamond Street called 911 in the early morning hours of Jan. 17, 2018, after the mortally wounded Bautista knocked on the door asking for help.Bautista was on the ground of a second-floor hallway when officers arrived on scene and immediately began administering medical aid, police said.He was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where doctors pronounced him dead.Police found Baisa -- who they believed stabbed Bautista inside their residence -- at the complex and arrested him. 1331
