WARNER SPRINGS, Calif. (KGTV) -- A famous balloonist died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a balloon accident near Warner Springs over the weekend.According to his website, Julian Nott died after "multiple injuries from an extraordinary and unforeseeable accident." According to the site, Nott was flying an experimental balloon he invented that was designed to test high altitude technology.Nott was known as the founder of the modern ballooning movement. He broke 79 world ballooning records and 96 British records, including exceeding 55,000 feet in a hot air balloon.The accident happened Sunday around 12:40 p.m. in a remote area near Warner Springs a mile off Chihuahua Valley Road.According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the balloon experienced a hard landing.A witness said the capsule detached from the balloon and rolled several hundred feet down the hillside.The two victims in the balloon at the time of the landing reportedly suffered back injuries. Both victims had to be airlifted out of the area.At this time, the condition of the other victim is unknown. 1097

The case against Kevin Clinesmith is likely to be cheered by President Donald Trump and his supporters who've alleged wrongdoing in the FBI’s investigation into whether Trump’s campaign coordinated with Russia. A watchdog report accused Clinesmith of altering an email to say former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was not a source for another government agency. “The fact is they spied on my campaign and they got caught,” Trump said at the White House on Friday.But the five-page charging document is limited in scope and does not allege criminal wrongdoing by anyone other than Clinesmith, nor does it offer evidence to support Trump’s assertions that the Russia probe was tainted by widespread political bias in the FBI. It does make clear that the FBI relied on Clinesmith’s own misrepresentations as it sought to renew its surveillance of former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.Page has said he was. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a man they say was acting suspicious outside an Islamic center in Vista in late March. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the man was seen taking pictures on the Tri-City Islamic Center on March 30. When someone at the center saw the man taking pictures, they invited him inside. When the man saw there were people inside the center, he took off running, deputies say. Witnesses describe the man as Hispanic in his late 20s, about five feet, seven inches tall with a lean or muscular build, short, dark hair and a blonde beard. He was last seen wearing a red hat, dark gray sports coat and blue jeans. Anyone who sees something suspicious is asked to call the department at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. The incident happened shortly after a fire was set at an Escondido Mosque on March 24. The fire, which caused minimal damage the building, was extinguished by members of the mosque.
