Unique hardly describes the lawsuit Scarlett Watts and her attorney recently filed in Florida federal court.Scarlett Watts said she was only days late on her house payment when her mortgage company called looking for their money.  Watts describes the exchange between her and the debt collector as tense but nothing more. Later that day she received a string of obscene text messages.The texts called Watts vulgar names and mentioned her late bill not once but twice.She called the mortgage company and they denied any wrongdoing on behalf of their employee.Attorney Billy Howard has filed a harassment suit on Watt’s behalf against the lender based on Florida and federal law that makes it illegal for a debt collector to harass a borrower on their cell phone.Next Howard plans to subpoena phone records to determine if the texts may have come from a company phone or an employee's phone.Watts says she decided to take legal action to teach the texter a lesson and hopefully collect a few thousand dollars. Victims of debt collection harassment can sue for between 0 and 00 per call or text.Scripps station WFTS in Tampa reached out to the lender four times for a comment. They have yet to respond. 1233

TUCSON, Ariz. — Police in Marana, Arizona are investigating after a man was reportedly holding a gun in his lap at a Starbucks near Cortaro and I-10 Saturday morning.Marana Police say around 8:45 a.m. there was a report of the man having his finger on the trigger of an un-holstered gun. The man was detained without incident when officers arrived. No one was hurt.Authorities say the man, 51-year-old James Vincent Delaney, was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Facility on felony Disorderly Conduct and Weapons Misconduct related charges.  592

U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore published an open letter to Sean Hannity on Wednesday night pushing back against allegations of sexual abuse that have placed his campaign at the center of a national firestorm and prompted prominent members of the Republican Party to call on Moore to withdraw from the race.In the letter, which came one night after Hannity said he would give Moore 24 hours to explain inconsistencies in how he has addressed the allegations before calling on him to step aside in the race, Moore suggested he was the victim of a political hit job."I am suffering the same treatment other Republicans have had to endure," Moore wrote Hannity.Moore faces accusations from multiple women that he pursued sexual relationships with them -- and in two cases engaged in sexual assault -- while they were between 14 and 18 years old and he was in his mid-30s.Moore denied dating underage girls, but only specifically addressed allegations from two of the women. He said "at the direction of counsel" he "cannot comment further."Moore said in his letter to Hannity that he was "in the process of investigating" what he characterized as "false allegations."On his program Tuesday night, Hannity demanded an explanation for a signature in a yearbook that appeared to have come from Moore. Despite Beverly Young Nelson -- one of the woman who accused him of sexual misconduct -- producing an old yearbook she said bore his signature, the embattled Senate candidate claimed he did not even know her."My signature on the order of dismissal in the divorce case was annotated with the letters 'D.A.,' representing the initials of my court assistant," Moore wrote Hannity. "Curiously the supposed yearbook inscription is also followed by the same initials—'D.A.' But at that time I was Deputy District Attorney, not district attorney."Moore added that he believed the "initials as well as the date under the signature block and the printed name of the restaurant are written in a style inconsistent with the rest of the yearbook inscription."The support of Hannity and other conservative heavyweights is crucial for Moore as he faces intense controversy. Thus far, Moore has responded to the allegations against him largely by dismissing them as supposed "fake news." If Hannity were to turn on him, it would signal to Republican voters in Alabama that there is merit to the allegations and that the reports in the media are not a political smear job as Moore has framed it.Hannity responded to Moore's letter at the end of his Wednesday night program and said that the allegations against Moore "are beyond disturbing and serious."But Hannity declined to drop his support for Moore, suggesting additional time and information is needed to render a decision. (KGTV) It wasn't the usual welcome home party for Tyler Priest, a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS)."I didn't think this many people would show up," he explained. "Because everyone is scared in their house, but this is really nice to see everyone."Priest was welcomed home, drive-thru style, in the parking lot of Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center Monday. He sat on a truck as family and friends drove by welcoming him home, staying at least six feet away.Priest was on his LDS mission in the Philippines and completed 20 of 24 months he set out to serve, before he was ordered to return home due to coronavirus concerns."This last Tuesday the government in the Philippines told us all foreigners need to leave," he explained. "We flew through Japan, didn't get off the plane, then through Salt Lake to San Diego."Priest returned home late Sunday night, he said he was checked for COVID-19 symptoms several times before arriving in San Diego."They did check our temperatures too many times, but I guess better safe than sorry, makes sense," he said.Although his return home was abrupt, his family is more than thrilled to have him back. It has been a difficult year for them all."While Tyler was gone his dad passed away and the community has been so sweet," said his mother, Ginny Priest. "Even in this super crazy time it's been nice to show their love from a distance."California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe was there for the Priest family when Shawn Priest, Tyler's father, was killed in a car crash."He was the one who came to tell me about my husband and stayed with me and my family throughout the day," Ginny Priest explained.Ginny Priest said she didn't know Latulippe before her husband passed away. Shawn Priest and Latulippe played softball together and were good friends. Now, Latulippe has become part of the family."He's just so much more than an officer," said Ginny Priest. "I'm just really grateful that someone who understood loss could help us through that situation, so he's really special to us.""His family has been through a lot in the last year, and we miss his dad very much," said Latulippe.He was once again there for the Priest family Monday, to not only welcome Tyler home, but to make sure everyone was being safe during this time of uncertainty."Everybody has driven by and has been responsible with it and trying to abide by the social distancing recommendations," said Latulippe."It's nice to be home," said Tyler Priest.He will now self-isolate for the next two weeks. 2579

Bernie Sanders' son is running for Congress in New Hampshire.Levi Sanders, 48, said in a statement first reported by WMUR and since posted on his campaign website that he is entering the open-seat race to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter."This is a unique opportunity to listen to the hard working men and women of New Hampshire about the issues that matter to them," he said.The New Hampshire 1st District is one of the nation's most competitive open-seat races in 2018's midterms.Unlike his father, who ran as an independent in Vermont, Sanders is running as a Democrat. He'll be the eighth Democratic candidate to enter the race.Sanders lives in Claremont, New Hampshire, which is outside the 1st District.
