ARCADIA (CNS) - A 2-year-old colt collapsed onto the turf during Sunday's third race at Santa Anita Park and was euthanized a short time later, becoming the first fatality of the track's racing season, which began Saturday."During race 3 at Santa Anita Park, Ebeko sustained an injury to his left front leg. Ebeko was immediately attended to by track veterinarians and triaged on the turf course. Given the extent of the fracture and the nature of the injury, it was unfortunately determined that it was an unrecoverable injury," Santa Anita announced.Ebeko was trailing the entire race, and fell face-first into the turf after his injury. He was trained by Peter Miller, and was ridden Sunday by jockey Joel Rosario. Rosario was examined by Santa Anita's first-aid staff and although he missed race 4, he was cleared to ride the remainder of the afternoon.Santa Anita debuted a new turf course chute on Saturday, but Sunday's third race did not take place on that course, according to track publicist Mike Willman.Ebeko will undergo a necropsy at UC Davis' school of veterinary medicine, as is mandatory for all on-track fatalities."The accident and the necropsy report will be reviewed by a team to learn what, if anything, could have been done to have prevented the accident," Santa Anita said.The track had just marked an opening day record pari-mutuel handle on Saturday, despite fans being barred from attending due to the coronavirus pandemic. (KGTV) -- Disney officially announced Tuesday that the park's latest venture, 'Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,' will open in the summer of 2019.Disney previously announced that the land would open in 2019, but it was unclear exactly when guests would be able to explore the new area. Disneyland guests will be the first to enjoy the land. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge won't open at Disney World in Florida until late fall of 2019.The park says the Star-Wars themed land is the largest singe-themed land expansion ever undertaken by the company. As part of the announcement, Disney released a new sneak peak of the land. Amherst, New York Police are investigating a large fight that broke out Saturday around 8 p.m. at a Chuck E. Cheese. A video, courtesy of Jay Keenan of Lockport, shows the chaos inside the restaurant, which he says was going on for two minutes before he started recording. At one point Keenan says a woman was hit in the head with a booster seat. As health experts warn about rising coronavirus cases from spread at indoor gatherings, a new website backed by recent research is trying to help people understand just how many people in what size space is risky for infection. Which could come in handy as some people consider small holiday gatherings.It’s more risky to be in a small room compared to a large gym. If people are calm and quiet, it is safer than singing or exercising no matter how distant they are.Given these types of scenarios, and the “rapidly advancing science” of how COVID-19 droplets behave, scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created the COVID-19 Indoor Safety Guideline application.Here’s an example:An average suburban house that is 2,000 square feet, with 25 people inside wearing cotton masks and talking in a whisper, can reduce their risk of transmission by only staying inside for 4 hours.If those same 25 people, in the same house, are not wearing a mask and are talking normally, the length of time to reduce transmission drops to just 50 minutes.And if those 25 people, in the same house, are singing along to Christmas music, without masks on, that time to safely reduce COVID-19 transmission indoors drops even further to just 8 minutes.If the size of the gathering is only 5 people, and there is still singing, no mask wearing, and it’s still a 2,000 square foot house, it becomes unsafe after just 27 minutes.The MIT website offers users the ability to select room size, number of people and length of time, then using previous research and scientific knowledge of airborne viruses, it predicts the risk of the indoor event. As cases of COVID-19 surge among members of FC Dallas, the MLS announced that it has postponed the team’s match against the Vancouver Whitecaps scheduled for Wednesday.Six players from FC Dallas in the last week have tested positive for COVID-19.The MLS is resuming play this week in Orlando, Florida as part of a tournament after the league shutdown in mid-March, less than two weeks into the 2020 season..
