K9 Griffen died Saturday after suffering from an unspecified medical condition.“It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that the Chula Vista Police Department says goodbye to Chula Vista Police Dog, K-9 Griffen,” the department said Monday.Griffen died surrounded by his handler, his handler’s family and other members of the K9 program.Griffen was a 7-year-old Belgian Malinois who worked to protect his handler, searched for suspects and made frequent appearances at community events. 590

(KGTV) — South Bay police officers closed down two marijuana dispensaries operating illegally.Two search warrants were served at illegal pot shops on Thursday by Chula Vista Police, according to the department. One dispensary was located at 500 Vance Street. CVPD arrested two employees on felony charges of operating an illegal dispensary and seized about ,000 in cash and 0,000 to million in illegal products.The second bust occurred at an illegal shop in the 900 block of Broadway. CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - After a series of fires, Chula Vista Police have begun the process of clearing people out of the Otay Mesa River Valley. Tuesday morning, members of the CVPD Homeless Outreach Team handed out vacate notices to people living in the area. Several fires have broken out in the river bed recently, requiring large responses from local fire agencies. Chula Vista Police said after people have been moved out, they will begin clearing brush.
