DALLAS (AP) — The Texas Supreme Court has denied a Republican-led petition to toss nearly 127,000 ballots cast at drive-thru voting places in the Houston area. The state's all-Republican high court on Sunday rejected the request from GOP activists and candidates without explaining its decision. DENVER —An Aurora, Colorado high school athlete was turned away from a Texas university recently after the school’s head baseball coach told him the school no longer recruits Colorado athletes because of past issues with drug testing. The Cherokee Trail High School student expressed interest in attending Texas Wesleyan University in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on a baseball scholarship but was rejected in an email sent to the student by Head Baseball Coach Mike Jeffcoat.Jeffcoat writes, “Thanks for the interest in our program. Unfortunately, we are not recruiting players from the state of Colorado. In the past, players have had trouble passing our drug test. We have made a decision to not take a chance on Student-athletes from your state. You can thank your liberal politicians. Best of Luck wherever you decide to play.”Although not explicitly mentioned in the email, Jeffcoat is likely referring to Colorado's recreational marijuana laws. The university said it is aware of the email and is investigating the matter. DESCANSO (KGTV) -- A San Diego County couple is warning others after getting a flat tire from an unusual source. Pamela Jessup was running errands in her Toyota RAV4 on SR-79 near Old Highway 80 last Thursday when she heard a thump.Jessup says she pulled over and looked at her back tire. After not seeing anything wrong, she went on her way.The thumping, however, only intensified after she drove onto Interstate 8. When she drove home, Jessup says her husband Davis found a temporary lane marker nailed in to the tire.While doing their due diligence, the Descanso residents found dozens of temporary nail markers along the side of the road in the same area where Jessup ran into issues.A local tire shop was able to fix the damage to the tire, but it cost the pair . DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Images of an extra-large mystery cat have opened a lot of eyes in East San Diego County community of Descanso.Off Viejas Grade Road, a wildlife camera on the land of Allen Walker's neighbor captured the video one evening last week.  It shows a large cat walking along a trail not far from homes.  Bobcats are routinely filmed by the camera, but Walker says this one appeared twice as big as the typical one."Little afraid for my corgis, because it would be breakfast or lunch ... I was pretty shocked about its size.  It's the biggest cat I've seen out here that's not a mountain lion," said Walker.We sent the image to SDSU research scientist Megan Jennings, who has studied the local bobcat population.  She confirmed the cat is in fact a bobcat - and a near-doubling in size would be highly unusual.  She says any extra-large bobcat is likely a male who has stumbled onto a steady food source. Walker knows what that source is: a huge presence of rabbits in the area. 1034
