HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – It’s been three months since a black student in Colorado reportedly punched a white student wearing a Nazi jacket in the face, but the incident has only come to light after a video of the fight went viral this week. The Denver Post reported Friday a Twitter user from Baltimore posted the video to his feed, which spread like wildfire on the social media website. The fight, which happened in August, began at lunch break in front of Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, when the white student in the Nazi jacket was doing a T-pose, which is a popular meme among gamers to demonstrate dominance or power, said Lt. Lori Bronner with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.Historically, some members of the Ku Klux Klan have used the pose to “represent a burning cross,” Bronner told KMGH.Bronner said the black student saw the white student doing the T-pose and went up to confront him. They exchanged words and the black student spit on the white student, at which point the white student did the same to the black student. The black student then briefly walked away but returned to confront the white student once again before punching him in the face, causing the student to fall to the ground, according to Bronner. She said the student wearing the green Nazi jacket then got up, grabbed a rock and threw it at the black student, missing him.According to Bronner, the student who threw the punch then ran after his peer and kicked him after he fell to the ground. She said the student in the Nazi jacket curled into a protective, fetal position while calling the black teen a racial slur.Shortly afterward, a third student and staff members separated the two boys.“We’ve had no other situations like this,” said Bronner, adding this type of disputes are very rare.Bronner said the black student was charged with assault for punching and kicking the white student, and was also charged with harassment and disorderly conduct. The white student, Bronner said, was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal attempted assault for throwing a landscaping rock at the black student. No one was charged with a hate crime.KMGH reached out to Douglas County Schools for comment. Paula Hans, a public information officer for DCSD, said she could not discuss specifics on any given student’s disciplinary actions, only saying “a student is not allowed per DCSD dress code policy to wear anything that is offensive or disruptive to the learning environment.”When asked if the white student's jacket had any Nazi markings, Hans only said the principal at Mountain Vista High School informed her that there were "no markings on the jacket." According to the Denver Post, students said the white teenager was known for wearing the green jacket complete with Nazi regalia. A review by a newspaper reporter of the juvenile’s Instagram account shows multiples pictures of him wearing Nazi uniforms. 2966

Happy Bobby Bonilla Day, New York Mets fans. The former major league baseball player gets a check for nearly .2 million Mets every July 1.Not a bad retirement plan.Under his contract, he gets the check every year until 2035, when he'll be 72.The Mets wanted to part ways with Bonilla in 1999, but he still had million left on his contract.Mets owner Fred Wilpon negotiated a deal to defer payments until 2011, followed by the annual payments, plus, an 8% annual interest rate. Why the deferment? So the Mets could invest the money with now-disgraced financier Bernie Madoff for a big return. But it turned out Madoff was running the most notorious Ponzi scheme in history, and the Mets ended up among the victims. In total, Bonilla will end up with .8 million because of Wilpon's huge bad call. And in 2012, Wilpon paid 2 million to Madoff victims' fund after auditors found he actually profited from the Ponzi scheme. 931

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Tampa strip club is suing a child sex trafficking victim — the latest development in a court battle involving the club where the victim says she was trafficked. Now the victim's mother is speaking out for the first time.Scores Gentleman's Club filed a countersuit in mid-July against the child sex trafficking victim, referred to in court documents as Jane Doe. The strip club's response comes six months after Jane Doe sued the business, accusing the club of hiring and exploiting her when she was 17 years old.The victim's mother, who was granted anonymity to protect her daughter's identity, says she's shocked the club took legal action against her daughter."I was disgusted and saddened, and I still can't believe it," the victim's mother said. The victim's lawsuit, filed in January, accuses the club of exploiting a minor with mental disabilities, stating she "was repeatedly touched, groped, molested and propositioned to engage in prostitution with explicit sex acts being proposed.""She was dancing, to her recollection of 15 to 30 minutes of her being hired there," the victim's mother said. "There are things she's experienced that she will never get over she has bad dreams, she has PTSD, she can't sleep at night."Luke Lirot, the attorney for Score's Gentlemen's Club, defended his decision to countersue Jane Doe for damages."She was absolutely competent enough to trick the people that work at my client's club," Lirot said.In the countersuit, the club says Jane Doe tricked them into hiring her by using a fake ID. It states she had "...full knowledge that the presentation of a fake ID was fraudulent and untrue, thus making an intentional misrepresentation."Lirot said the countersuit is the only way to get to the truth."To find this out sufficiently and to hold the people responsible that had deceived my clients, this was the only option I had," Lirot said.Jane Doe's attorney Michael Dolce said he plans to file a motion to dismiss the countersuit in Hillsborough County Court."You cannot legally blame a child abuse victim for their own abuse," Dolce said.Dolce filed the original case against the club. It states Jane Doe was brought to the club in 2017 by Robert Torres.According to court documents, employees at the club introduced her to drugs and alcohol. Police later arrested Torres for trafficking and he pled guilty to lesser charges in the case.Scores is also suing Torres for intentional misrepresentation. As for the victim, her mother says she's still in therapy. This story was originally published by Jackie Callaway on WFTS in Tampa, Florida. 2618

GERMANY — Bayer plans to slash thousands of jobs as part of a corporate overhaul following its acquisition of Monsanto. The chemicals and pharmaceuticals group said it would cut 12,000 jobs out of its global workforce of 118,000 by the end of 2021. A significant number of reductions will be made in its home market of Germany.More than 4,000 jobs will go at the company's crop sciences division, a consequence of Bayer's acquisition of US rival Monsanto earlier this year.Bayer (BAYRY) spent over billion buying Monsanto. To gain regulatory approval for the deal, Bayer agreed to sell assets including its seed business and some herbicide brands. The German company said in a statement on Thursday that it was considering whether to sell more assets, including the sunscreen business Coppertone and footwear brand Dr. Scholl's.It will get out of the business of animal health, and sell its 60% stake in Currenta, a company that provides services to chemical companies.Shares in Bayer have dropped by more than a third so far this year, in part because of concerns over the company's exposure to lawsuits involving Roundup, a weedkiller made by Monsanto. In August, San Francisco jurors awarded 9 million in damages to a former school groundskeeper who said his terminal cancer had been caused by the product. The damages were later reduced by a judge, but hundreds of other patients have made similar claims. Monsanto has said the product is safe when used as directed. 1481
